The new AFIRE Point of View series features video interviews with the foremost developers, investors, and thinkers in global commercial real estate. First up is the legendary real estate economist Ken Rosen, chairman of the Rosen Consulting Group and the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. Remember the era of low interest rates, and cheap and easy investment money? Rosen argues it's not going to return for the foreseeable future. PLUS—Ken’s take on such questions as: • What do commercial real estate investors need to consider when investing in the US market? • What opportunities arise from the new interest rate environment? • Should investors hold out for interest rates to drop? Yesterday, our Chief of Research and Economics, Dr Nicola Powell spoke on the ‘big picture’ panel at the The Australian Financial Review Property Summit. Panellists delved into the dynamics of the 2023 residential real estate market recovery and explored the future directions of economics, policies, and housing markets. Nicola’s view is that with the early arrival of spring, new listings are expected to continue to flourish as pent-up supply finally comes into play.
