As always Matt provides some excellent pointers for first time founders. I generally agree with the sentiment. It is better to go after customers' money before VC dollars.
I would like to add a few more options to founders who are thinking about getting co-founders to build a product.
In most of the cases, you won’t be able to build something in a couple of weeks and stop building. Discovering your customer needs is a journey, you are going to keep discovering new things and you need a team in place to keep iterating.
Who you build with is more important than what you build for many early stage startups. According to Y Combinator co-founder Jessica Livingston, founder disputes are the second biggest reason for startups to fail [0].

For startups, it's important to know the difference between a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and a Proof of Concept (PoC). Each has a special role in helping your idea succeed, but knowing when to use each can make all the difference.
An MVP helps you test your core product with real users, gathering essential feedback and iterating quickly. It's about building just enough to learn and improve.
A PoC, on the other hand, demonstrates the feasibility of an idea or technology, proving it can be done before investing significant resources.
