Throughout #WomensHistoryMonth, we will be featuring the remarkable women driving success at Wedgewood, sharing their three guiding principles for success. Today we have Maria, Chief Financial Officer with her family: 1. Happy Family, Happy Worker I have often found I can focus and do a better job if I am not stressed about a family matter. Take care of your family, spend quality time with them and you will be a better employee for it. 2. Build Authentic Relationships Support is better when it is volunteered versus requested. When you have authentic relationships, those individuals want you to succeed and will go out of their way to help you in your career. 3. Simplify the Complex Too often we hear “that’s complicated” so our natural inclination is to not even try. Your starting position should always be “I can do this” and break the task down into simpler steps and go for it. You can never accomplish something if you don’t even try. Maya Angelou Black women play a vital role in the strength, unity, and growth of their communities. As mothers, daughters, sisters, leaders, and mentors, they contribute to the well-being and success of those around them. However, Black women often face unique challenges and pressures, making it essential for communities to support and uplift them. Black women hold significant importance for the Black community in several ways: 🤎Leadership and Mentorship: Black women serve as role models and mentors for younger generations, providing guidance, inspiration, and support to help them navigate life’s challenges. 🤎Family Stability: As mothers, partners, and caregivers, Black women contribute to the emotional, financial, and social stability of their families, fostering strong and healthy relationships. 🤎Community Health: Black women’s involvement in community empowerment, organizations, and advocacy efforts helps to build community resilience, promote social unity, and address Community Equity. BW4HL recognizes vital role Black in Women play in their communities, yet they continue to face unique challenges that impact their well-being and ability to contribute positively. We create an environment where Black women can engage in inclusive community discussions, break down stereotypes, identify needs and resources, and build supportive networks to uplift and empower Black women. It is time to recognize the importance of Black women and their impact on the Black community and to come together to ensure that they have the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the growth and prosperity of their families and communities. Of course, this is similar for other causes during "their" month. 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: While companies may join in for visibility, we need to guide them towards meaningful financial commitments that create real impact. 📍 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐭: Not every corporate idea will align with our values or capabilities. It’s crucial to ensure that both sides benefit without compromising our core principles. 📍 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡: The true test of a partnership’s value is its sustainability beyond the awareness month. We aim for ongoing support, not just one-time gestures.
