Let me take you on a little trip down memory lane to when I first started teaching CAFS. WOW, how I wish I knew then what I know now! Here are four things that I learned along the way about how to ensure you are setting your students up for success right from the start: 1️⃣ Teach Paragraphing: It's essential to teach students how to structure their writing with clear paragraphs. Trust me, it makes a world of difference in their understanding and communication skills. 2️⃣ Break Down Questions: Those long, daunting questions? Break 'em down into manageable chunks! This helps students tackle them with confidence and clarity. 3️⃣ Apply the Glossary of Key Words: Don't underestimate the power of the glossary! Encourage students to apply key terms in their responses to demonstrate a deep understanding of the concepts. 4️⃣ Set Students Up for Success: From day one, lay the groundwork for success. Start with the basics, fill in any gaps in their skills, and watch them thrive! Back in 2020, I taught THREE Year 11 CAFS classes, and boy, did I learn a lot! As the school year wraps up, a gentle reminder: Parents on your team and at your company may need to adjust schedules for award ceremonies, graduations, summer school, camp hours, child-care limitations, and more. It's all about juggling priorities. Award ceremonies at 10:30? Offline we go. Graduation parking chaos? Early exit it is. School at 8, camp at 9? A quick run is in order. After-school care until 6? Unfortunately, no such luck, leaving parents with coverage only until 3. We will get the work done, it just might look a little different for the next 10 weeks. We appreciate the understanding - it means a lot! #workingparents

Swearing in a new board member? It’s often said that whenever the school board gets a new member, a new board is formed. Make the new member’s first day on the job one of intentional induction, not just for the new member but also for the other members of the “new board" by using the opportunity to renew the whole board’s commitments.
