I am excited to announce Madre Tequila which launches today. Additive-free, artisanal, unaged tequila blanco made in Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico. When we started looking at the tequila space it felt very over-saturated with celebrity brands and heavy advertising / influencer budgets. But we also knew the methods of production were very commercial and the use of additives (glycerin, coconut and vanilla flavoring, imported yeasts and other non-agave sugars) was common place. Even the most “premium” and “super-premium” tequila is often delightfully smooth but that’s actually not agave. Tequila is actually a mezcal. Vino de mezcal de tequila, actually. And was originally made artisanally like mezcal but using blue Weber agave which was highly available in Jalisco. In the last thirty years, the tequila industry moved away from those artisanal roots and it’s our objective to bring the world our additive-free tequila made with high altitude, high fruit, single field agave at 48% ABV still-strength. We believe the next wave in spirits is in additive-free tequila and this launch represents our place in that movement. Even more important than the no-additive movement should be the no-diffuser movement, which I believe your products are free from?

Chris Stephenson Thank you for breaking this down. Very informative. I would be very curious to know the impact this knowledge has on the purchase intent/consideration. On the branding, look, feel, and unique look, 10/10. Love it and sad to think that I'll probably won't be able to try it in Canada for a while :(

In love with the look of the brand! Feels like something you'd find in a nostalgic hunt through your grandparents cupboards with a solid travel story to follow, but also feels super fresh and puts me straight on a beach! I feel like I trust the original tequila taste from the off! Congrats!

Congrats! Sounds delicious and wishing you all the success!!!

Just got back from CDMX, did a small producer tequila class and was so surprised to hear exactly this, we know so little about real requila and I learned that a good tequila maker will usually have a blanco with 100% agave! cant wait to try this!
