The reason behind this sentiment is that, a year and a half ago, I was at the most vulnerable point in my career and had no idea where I was heading or what my next steps should be.
Zachary Morrison and Michelle Smith decided to take a chance on me, even though I absolutely bombed my interview 😂😂😂, and I am forever grateful.
A year and five months later, with the help of my colleagues and managers, I've managed to reach a few milestones.
I am no guru; in fact, compared to my peers, I know very little, and that's the honest truth.
I've been asked a few times what I do to achieve my wins or what works for me, and I'll share my answer here for anyone interested.
In my humble opinion, it's all in your mind.
There's no perfect talk track, email, or cadence. We all work differently, so what works for me won't necessarily work for you. However, your mindset will completely change the way you approach your role.
During the lockdown, I focused on doing my best to ‘reprogram’ my mindset and how I approach challenging situations. This shift has positively impacted all areas of my life, including my professional role.
I'm a firm believer in the power of the mind. When you constantly speak negatively, such as saying 'this month will be tough' or 'not sure how I will hit target this month', very little will change and could even get worse.
To better cope with rejection from whoever I spoke to, I adopted a new perspective early on: 'We get paid when prospects say no, and we earn even more when they say yes.'"
This completely helped me see things from a different perspective.
