Earlier this month, CHA hosted our annual Family Advocacy Day in Washington, DC. This year, we were proud to welcome over 300 attendees including over 180 children and their families to champion pediatric care and amplify the needs of patients and caregivers across the country. Throughout the event, families shared their personal experiences with federal lawmakers, underscoring the critical importance of Medicaid and the need for continued support and access to life-saving care. A highlight of the week was a special “Kids and Congress” advocacy event with members of the Ways and Means Committee, where pediatric patients shared their stories. From over 130 meetings on Capitol Hill to a celebration dinner, there were many memories made. Thank you to all the families who took the time to travel to D.C and raise their voices, and to our event partners who helped make #FAD2024 a success! Together, we are making a difference and paving the way toward a brighter, healthier future for children. #TeamCHA Watch our short recap video:

Stroke = TIME!!! When you feel any of these: inbalance, blurred vision, face assymetry, arms or legs weakness, speech difficulty, call an ambulance. It is a matter of minutes. Stroke can manifest even if are have healthy BMI, blood pressure, are a non-smoker, and young. After missing the first symptom, just thinking it’s something temporary, you can lose your ability to move your hands, talk, see the next day. And also be aware of your loved ones if they show any of these. Share this to your network and spread stroke awareness.
We stand with all of our members and remain committed to continuous awareness, education, and advocacy for those affected by #stroke. #ABrainCoProud #WorldStrokeDay American Heart Association International Alliance for Pediatric Stroke

AAP is looking back at the some of the most significant moments in our long history of advocacy. The passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 was a significant step forward for children and pediatricians. As one of our central priorities, AAP spent years advocating for inclusive healthcare policies benefiting both children and pediatricians. The ACA made a crucial difference in children's healthcare coverage, decreasing the percentage of uninsured children from 9.7% in 2009 to 4.7% in 2016.
