We're less than a week out from our annual bird party for a cause! All are welcome as we raise money for important bird conservation initiatives while raising a glass and the roof with fellow bird enthusiasts. https://lnkd.in/g2k-GMF3

Excellent news - these ponds are being restored in areas where Hampshire Isle of Wight Amphibian & Reptile Group HIWARG currently monitor for reptiles. This means that amphibian surveys can be undertaken on these restored ponds. The sweepstake or betting odds for which amphibian turns up first at Magdalen Hill Down pond? Great crested newt 2000/1 common frog* 2/1 smooth newt* 5/1 palmate newt 200/1 natterjack toad 10,000/1 pool frog 15,000/1 common toad* 100/1 Completely made up figure based on which species are in the area (*). Common frog is my favourite contender. There is no chance of the unstarred species to get to the pond naturally. Can anyone suggest the reasons why the other species will not be there any time soon? https://lnkd.in/ebFUHGCW

The future of the Greater Sage-Grouse, an iconic species of the American West, is in doubt — and YOU can help! American Bird Conservancy (ABC) is calling on supporters like you to participate in an open comment period designed to gather feedback on a new set of management plans proposed by the Bureau of Land Management. Now, ABC and partners are fighting for what might be the species' last hope for a chance at survival. Don't wait to take action: Comments are due tomorrow, Tuesday, May 14! Urge the Bureau of Land Management to adopt the strongest conservation plan needed to recover the bird's declining populations. Act now to conserve the Greater Sage-Grouse! https://lnkd.in/d3V4MYG Aquarium Divers For Coral Society (ADFC) is #urging all dive clubs to come together to discuss the organization of at least one club trip for coral restoration a year. The foundations doing this work in Florida and the Caribbean are not enough to sustain this work on their own. We know this because our mission to help restore reefs is what we do. The data is strong to support #coralreefrestoration but to get ahead of coral decline we need #volunteer divers who are willing to put in the effort. Science is not enough to get the underwater work done. The coral crisis is real, it is not about saving these beautiful coral but keeping the ecosystem alive for healthy coastal environments. If you seriously want to help turn tide on the coral decline, ADFC is open to all certified divers and membership is free. I write about FinOps, Process automation w/ a shower of thoughts on everday topics added for good measure.
How does it work? On my website, you will have the ability to leave a 30 second voice note explaining your problem (after a few queries like your Linkedin profile). I will listen to this and let you know if I can help. I have 3 slots a week. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. You book one of these days. At the end of the piece of work you are invited to rate how long you think it took for me to fix the problem (split into quarters) as well as your satisfaction with the result out of 5*. The price of the work adapts based on the time took and satisfaction metrics. It's up to you. You rate at the end of the day after a 15 mins handover call. You are refunded the rest of your money other than $25 which is donated to the Valhalla Wilderness Society; an organisation fighting to preserve one of the last remaing old wood rainforests near Revelstoke, BC. There are trees here 1500 years old; it has to be protected no question - not against logging, just don't log this beautiful valley. https://www.vws.org/ Comment below or message if you are interested in this service.

Guardians of South Georgia, regular givers, are helping to conserve albatrosses; supporting regular population surveys and research to understanding the birds’ distribution at sea whilst foraging. South Georgia is a globally important breeding site for various species of albatross, but habitat use by some threatened species is poorly understood. Using satellite tags that will enable us to track the birds in near-real time, Light-mantled Albatrosses will be monitored year-round. This will help determine whether their recent population decline at South Georgia is due to a change in distribution or their habitat use. Guardians of South Georgia make a commitment to play a lasting role in the preservation of South Georgia – its wildlife, environment, and cultural heritage. Can you make GivingTuesday ‘Guardian Tuesday’ and join as a Guardian of South Georgia right now? .'Trump-era policies made it LEGAL for trophy hunters to murder innocent gray wolves and grizzly bears in several states. Now, GOP legislators are actively proposing even more bills that would strip away Endangered Species Act protections for these iconic animals.' 'Should it remain legal for extremist hunters to indiscriminately murder wolves and bears?' NO! 'In some states, trophy hunters are allowed to use some of the most inhumane methods to kill innocent animals — including choking snares, steel leg traps, and even dynamiting helpless wolf pups and bear cubs asleep in their dens.' 'How concerned are you that the safety and security of helpless bear cubs is in jeopardy?' Extremely concerned! 'Gray wolves and grizzly bears are both considered keystone species due the important roles they play in our planet’s ecosystem — but their populations are declining. If trophy hunters continue to legally massacre wolves and bears, these native species could go extinct.' 'Are you concerned that trophy hunters could wipe out rare wildlife and harm our fragile ecosystems?' Extremely concerned! 'The Trump administration’s move to allow the killing of innocent bear cubs and wolf pups was an obvious handout to trophy hunters. Extremist Republican lawmakers are in bed with hunting lobbyists and other Big Polluters, ready to sell the future of vulnerable wildlife for corporate profits and putting short-term gains over the viability of our planet.' 'Will you stand with Friends of the Earth as we fight back against corrupt GOP politicians and their efforts to gut life-saving Endangered Species Act protections?' Yes! 'Friends of the Earth will never let up in our fight to protect the Endangered Species Act from the interests of trophy hunters and their politician friends. The ESA allows us to block destructive industries like Big Oil, logging and factory farming from wreaking havoc on endangered species’ habitats – and the attacks on the ESA by Big Polluters are proof that it’s working. We’re part of the world’s largest grassroots environmental network – and our work has never been more urgent. But it’s going to take all of us stepping up if we’re going to keep up our efforts.' 'Corporate polluters could unravel decades of hard-fought victories for people and the planet. But that doesn't mean we should stand aside and do nothing while they tear apart protections for our Earth and all the life it supports.' https://lnkd.in/eTwPqrk8
I just gave to Friends of the Earth!

Did you know? Environmental nonprofits are receiving less than 2% of charitable dollars! Out of $471 billion donated to nonprofits in 2020, only $8 billion went towards environmental causes. It's time to prioritize our planet! Let's support organizations dedicated to conservation, wildlife protection, and land trusts. Every little bit counts towards a greener, healthier future for all. #EarthWeek #SaveThePlanet #EnvironmentalJustice #SupportGreenCauses #RedstartCreative #MarylandNonProfits #MarketingForNonProfits

Today is World Wildlife Conservation Day, a day to raise awareness and take action to protect wildlife across the world, especially those whose existence is continually threatened by human activities. Hunting, poaching, destruction of wild land and a changing climate are threatening every species on the planet but there are things you can do: 1. Spread the word. Today is a day to educate and spread awareness of wildlife conservation and the threats to wildlife among friends, family and across your social media channels. 2. Take the pledge. Never support or buy from companies who engage in activities that threaten wildlife, this includes how they’re products are sourced, for example are their paper or wood products FSC certified, is your seafood MSC certified, look out for Fair Trade logos, B-Corps, etc and never but products made from ivory or other endangered animal parts. 3. Act. Sign petitions and support other campaigns or donate to a wildlife charity. For more information on how you can support wildlife here in Scotland and across the world, please visit https://www.wwf.org.uk/ And for advice, support on training on how your business can reduce its impact on the natural world, please get in touch or visit our website. #worldwildlifeconservationday #conservation #wildlifeconservation #biodiversity #sustainablebusiness
