Through my career journey as mental health professional, I realized that, contextualized and adaptive community based mental health and psychosocial support (CB MHPSS) interventions are more suitable to improve the wellbeing status of our nationals than any other western intervention models. In reality, we are mostly doing the response based services by following medical models than promotion and prevention of mental health issue in society. Evidence based findings and learning are highly required to have our own way of management. #rumakhondaker #mhpss

As we approach the end of the year, let's shine a light on our mental well-being. Mental health is integral to our overall health, and it's crucial to make it a priority. Did you know that mental health affects 1 in 4 people in the UK? The numbers underscore the importance of fostering open conversations and support systems. Let's break the stigma surrounding mental health and build a compassionate community! Excitingly, technology is playing a pivotal role in mental health support. Have you explored the Hub of Hope platform? This incredible resource connects individuals with mental health services and resources, providing a lifeline for those in need. Discover more at www.hubofhope.co.uk and let's spread the word to make mental health support accessible to all in the UK! Before setting our out-of-office messages and embracing the holiday season, let's remember to leave an avenue for someone to reach out. A small gesture, a kind word, or the sharing of a resource can make a significant impact on someone going through a tough time. Let's commit to making mental health a priority, not just at year-end but throughout the coming year. Together, we can create a community that values and nurtures the well-being of every individual. Please remember, if you find yourself alone with nobody to talk to and feel isolated, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, and we can talk. Let's be there for each other and create a network of support. Kate Murphy, LCSW, wears two hats—one as a therapist working directly with clients and the other as someone deeply involved in supporting mental health providers. Through this dual role, she understands the inherent challenges in quantifying progress in mental health treatment. This endeavor is often intricate and subjective, a hurdle she encounter daily at this intersection of roles. The solution lies in the practice of measurement-based care (MBC) throughout the treatment process. Measurement-based care is the systematic collection and evaluation of client symptom data at regular intervals. Learn more about MBC in her article

Despite America’s strong diversity, representation often falls short in some of the areas that matter most. The mental health care field is a prime example. This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, consider these stats on the vast disparities that exist between people of color and the amount of providers who look like them. Young people play a pivotal role in creating safe spaces for their peers to learn and seek for mental health support. Having young people at the forefront aids the destigmatization of mental health, making it more acceptable to young people that may be in need of mental health support. Youth organizations promote a youth-centred approach, tailoring the mental health education and support to the needs of the youth population. Ndinewe Foundation has become a safe space for young people to develop and improve their resilience, emotional intelligence, and help-seeking behaviour. Young people remain agents of change and should not be left out in the planning and decision making of mental health initiatives both on a local and global level. #YouthMentalHealth

Mental Health Awareness Month is observed annually in May to raise awareness and educate the public about mental health issues, promote mental wellness, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health disorders. Social workers are uniquely positioned to provide education and awareness during this time. There are more clinically trained social workers than in the United States than psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners combined! But even as we are the leading group of mental health practitioners, this is also a reminder to tend to our own mental health as well. The nature of our work, though fulfilling, can wear on our mental. Remember, you are worthy of the same tender care, kindness, and wellness that you offer to your clients, and if you are not well, you cannot support others in being well. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone #TalkAboutIt #HealthyMindHealthyLife #TakeCareOfYourself #SupportEachOther
