EDUCATION BEYOND SCHOOL WALLS... Just Wow...!!! Recently, I graced the graduation ceremony of my sweet niece and the experience left me in awe.Congratulations @Boluwatife on the completion of the course Catering and Hospitality Management. Testimony of graduants (1) A man with two masters, who also has a job enrolled in the Technical school to study painting and decoration. His wife who is a graduate also enrolled in the Catering & Hospitality Management Course ( 2) An Electrical engineering graduate who owns and runs a business enrolled to learn plumping , fitting and electrical work. While still on the course and after completion he has been able to correct jobs done by plumbers he hires to work for him. Now no plumber can cut corners or mess up his contracts because he has the required skills and knowledge. These testimonies and more got me thinking about #skills I need to harness or acquire to position myself more in my field of expertise. It is important that our graduates/college students acquire necessary skills that makes them employable or positions them to run a business of their own. Anyone can acquire necessary skills whether it is soft skills or hard skills ...keep improving, keep learning. Age should never be a barrier "Ko se duro wo"...no dulling! Acquire necessary skills to support your education/certificate https://lnkd.in/dRJueeBp #DebisibusybeeNuggets #DebisibusybeeInspiration #DebisibudybeeMedia #StoneTechnicalCollege

Expert in helping construction and real estate development firms create their risk transfer programs.
Interesting article here by Orianna Rosa Royle at Fortune on how there is a noticeable increase in members of the Gen Z generation entering trade schools rather than attending college. There are a number of factors behind this trend (e.g., baby boomers retiring from the #construction industry so demand for skilled labor is increasing, sticker price for college keeps increasing [Vanderbilt University is now charging $100,000 a year], etc.), but at the end of the day having a technical skill that requires effort and training to master (e.g., welding, HVAC maintenance and repair, electrician, etc.) will be rewarded when demand is high and supply is low.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS FOR A NEW GENERATION OF TRAINEE BUILDING INSPECTORS: 30 new places after 2,000 apply to join LABC’s trainee academy The response has just been amazing, says chief executive, Lorna Stimpson A training scheme for building inspectors, which has attracted nearly 2,000 applicants so far, is launching its fourth recruitment drive. There are 30 places available in the latest cohort of LABC’s (Local Authority Building Control) Academy, with trainees starting work in local authorities across England from June 2024. It follows the success of LABC’s three earlier recruitment drives which saw each round oversubscribed after the decision to permanently fund a training academy. “In the first two recruitment rounds we had more than a thousand applicants in total, and the third round alone saw nearly 800 people wanting to join our profession,” said LABC chief executive Lorna Stimpson. “We’re seeking new recruits who are technically minded, like problem solving, are keen to learn and looking for a rewarding career in public service. https://lnkd.in/epbwgDcG #construction #build #design #advertsing #pr #news #magazine #b2bmarketing #newsletter #emailmarketing

It’s no secret that the UK is facing a skills shortage across many industries and indeed, the HVAC industry has been concerned about the lack of engineers for some time. EngineeringUK’s report predicts demand for engineers is going to grow - specifically ‘green engineering’ jobs as the UK attempts to meet its net zero target by 2050. Engineers across all industries - especially cooling and heating - have a key role to play. We support any initiatives that are attempting to tackle the deficit. We welcome news of the impact of T Level qualifications, first introduced in 2020. The first 16 courses have now been launched with the Department of Education’s aim to have 24 in place for September 2025. The courses for school age students (16-19 years) replace BTECs and include at least 45 days of industrial placement. One such training course offers a heating engineer or ventilation specialism and offers youngsters access to skilled employment whilst meeting employers’ requirements. https://lnkd.in/epB-zmGa https://lnkd.in/eDGfU3qd #Tlevels #HVAC

New announcements are rolling out everyday for International students. It is an exciting time to see skilled trades being promoted by all colleges and universities to attract international students. That's because now your post graduate work permit will be tied to the program you take at school. So I did some research and here is the list of all the programs we have in Skill Trades that would be beneficial for one coming to Canada as an international student. 1. Electrician (Construction and Industrial): This trade is in high demand across Canada, with strong job prospects and competitive salaries. Programs are offered at many institutions, including the College of the North Atlantic. 2. Culinary Arts: Cooks are among the most in-demand trades in Canada. The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) offers a well-respected two-year diploma program in Culinary Arts, which includes an internship and practical experience. 3. Welding: Welders are consistently in high demand across various industries in Canada. Many colleges offer welding programs, and the skills are transferable across provinces. 4. Plumbing: Plumbers are essential in construction and maintenance, making this trade consistently in demand. Programs are widely available at various vocational colleges. 5. Automotive Service Technician: With Canada's large automotive industry, this trade offers good prospects. Centennial College, for example, is known for its automotive programs. 6. HVAC Technician: Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technicians are in high demand, especially with the growing focus on energy efficiency. 7. Carpentry: Carpenters are crucial in the construction industry, and many colleges offer carpentry programs. 8. Heavy Equipment Operator: This trade is particularly in demand in resource-rich provinces and areas with significant infrastructure development. 9. Power Engineering Technician: Many Canadian institutions offer power engineering technician programs accredited by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), preparing students for certification exams. Due to aging workforce, the demand is going to spike. These programs are generally accessible to international students and offer good pathways to permanent residency in Canada. Many of these trades are part of the Red Seal program, meaning your certification will be recognized across Canada once you pass the exam. When choosing a program, consider institutions like Mohawk College, Centennial College, St. Lawrence College, Humber College, and Fanshawe College, which are known for their strong trade programs and support for international students. Remember that while these trades are in high demand, admission requirements and competition can vary. It's advisable to research specific programs at different institutions and consider factors such as location, program duration, and any additional certifications or apprenticeships offered. #internationalstudents #skilltrades #Canada
