Drumroll please: Here are the results of our poll: The Question we posed was "What is the cost of a hire that doesn't work out for the business in the first 12 months"? We had almost 100 responses and just over 1 in 4 said the cost of hire doesn't work out in year one is €70k or higher and 70% of total respondents put the cost of a bad hire at a minimum of €45,000.00 Some thoughts.. do businesses break down the cost of a new employee that doesn't perform as expected and leaves within the first 12 months? If there's one thing you'll learn sooner or later is that the entire hiring process is a negotiation not just the part where you receive an offer... you're building your case about the potential value you're bringing and how the org stands to gain from it. Also, do your own homework and what you should expect in terms of comp. Personally, I reach out to other recruiters in my space to get an idea of what companies are offering out there
