There are a few people in the world who have the right to stand up and declare that they have truly crossed the line and created something amazing. My dear friend, Iris Rideau, @irisrideau is a pioneer in the wine industry. She's the first woman of color to own a vineyard and start a winery in the United States of America, and I'm proud to call her a friend, mentor, and honorary mother. She's just awesome. Her book, From WHITE to BLACK: One Life Between Two Worlds, showcases the world as it really was. Her book is a beautifully told true story of extraordinary perseverance, limitless vision, and the power of faith in one’s self. Ms. Rideau’s illuminating ride through a long-ignored aspect of American history is endlessly fascinating and will leave you deeply inspired. She is a true inspiration for all women and anyone who was born differently. She had a vision, followed her dreams, and created a plan for her life that broke barriers for Black people to follow. I'm so glad to know her and even more excited to call her a friend. When she agreed to endorse McClain Cellars and let the world know what we are doing in #Solvang, #Buellton, #Irvine, #LagunaBeach, and Irvine, I was touched. Thank you, Iris. you Rock! @rideauvineyard #friends #beautiful #instagood #winery #irisrideau #blackexcellence #blacklivesmatter #blackculture #blackcommunity #blackownedbusiness #blacklove #blackhistory365 #blackowned #blackhistoryeveryday #blackhistroyfacts #blackknowledgeispower #blackhistorybootcamp #blackhistoryyear #blackhistoryfact #blackhistorymatters #blackisbeautiful #blackknowledge #buyblack #supportblackbusiness #blackpower #blackpantherparty #blackhistorymonth

𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐋𝐈𝐄 !! We all how santa look like right! Is it the cheerful, red-suited, white-bearded figure we've all come to know and love? 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈! Saint Nicholas, a 4th-century bishop was the original inspiration for Santa Claus . In the early 1900’s there were many different versions of Santa Claus around the world, a tall man , an elf —there was even a scary Claus. In 1931, Coca‑Cola hired designer named Sundblom to paint Santa for Christmas advertisements. Those paintings established Santa as a warm, happy character with a big beard and white and red dress. The image became so popular and became the modern identitfy of Santa. How did Coke benefit out of this ? Seeing Santa in red and white links those colors and feelings of happiness with Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola uses similar colors in their ads and infact Coca-Cola sales 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 36% during the Christmas season 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐤𝐞 Here is my reel on this topic - https://lnkd.in/gN6q9vNj For more such business insights , Follow Vyaparvadai https://lnkd.in/gETktRGB #santa #history #marketing #branding #holiday #christmas #advertising #vintage #culture #business #innovation #tradition #strategy #insights #enterprise #corporate #management #leadership #finance #economics #strategy #operations #innovation #growth #development #planning #analysis #investment #success #goals #performance #industry #market #competition

Your VERBOAST word of the day is *GREGARIOUS*. https://lnkd.in/gAz6FhW5 Anyone who can work the word of the day into an incoherent scream from a hang glider, deliciously cheesy pick-up line, unsolicited LinkedIn connection request, or any other multi-party interaction gets four (4) points. Points are forfeit if someone: a) asks if you're playing Verboast, b) challenges you for using the word incorrectly or out of reasonable context, or c) makes you repeat or explain yourself. Double points for commenting in this thread with the story of how you succeeded so we can applaud your ascendant insouciance. Today's winners get a 2-liter bottle of Coke, a pack of Mentos, and a pool noodle.

I've been reading about Belonging, and using this framework as a way to bring people together in new ways and grow resilience. And, I came across a great model called "Make America Dinner Again." This clever organization helps you organize small dinners consist of respectful conversation, guided activities, and delicious food shared among 6-10 guests who have differing political viewpoints, and our country's best interests at heart. Love this! Check it out. https://lnkd.in/gtfHyM5X

I'm sharing this in hopes that it reaches the Black marketers struggling to find their "why" in their work. I see you. I first got into marketing because I felt like people who looked like me needed to be spoken to. Growing up in a predominantly white community in Alberta had its challenges, and it wasn't until I moved to Toronto at 19 that I felt seen. It took me walking down Queen Street and seeing diversity in the streets to realize that someone who looks like me can feel beautiful and occupy space. I've carried that feeling with me for the last 13 years. My career at Lush has been a catalyst for change. I've been given numerous opportunities to be the change I wanted to see when I was younger, and one of those opportunities was activating at AFROPUNK Worldwide LLC in Brooklyn, NY. Don't get me wrong, it still took some "work" proving the value to a few people (who don't work at the business anymore) but it also gained interest from our global team, which gave me the support I needed to create the concept of Club Lush. Club Lush is all about community, creativity, connection and a little bit of chaos (in the most fun way). It's inspired by providing a space to feel safe, beautiful and, more importantly, to feel seen. That's what we did, and after two long years, we saw this space come to life. Brand activations don't have to be about conversion. It's not about "selling" your brand. Creating an emotional memory with someone will have a more long-term impact than anything else. I watched many beautiful Black folks create those memories with Lush at Afropunk (thanks to our lovely film and photo team, you can also witness these moments in the video below). So here's to my Black marketers. I know it's hard sometimes because it can feel lonely, but don't lose sight of your "why". You have the power to create change, and when you feel like giving up, know that a fellow Black marketer from Canada is cheering you on.
