Student Belonging is not a one-person show. Students experience belonging differently in different places and with different people. For example, a student at a university may identify the dining hall as a place to connect with his or her friends. However, for other students, the same dining hall could be a stressful place, a space that makes them feel isolated or anxious. We may view belonging as a personal matter, but it requires ongoing effort by universities and colleges. Colleges can change their structures and systems to support belonging and inclusion. Like giving attention to differences between what colleges display in marketing materials and the reality of what students experience on campus. We just need to think about belonging in different ways. #education #highered #belonging

One issue that international students often encounter is what to do on holiday breaks. Many campuses will shut down key resources including housing, dining, and healthcare during holiday breaks, leaving international students with few options. The University of Chicago has piloted a program to solve this issue that I believe should be replicated across the country. International students face enough hurdles navigating and thriving in the American higher education system- figuring out where they'll get their next meal shouldn't be one of them. Check out the article below for more on this critical issue faced by international students at colleges and universities, and how the C.A.R.E.S. plan works to solve it. #InternationalStudents #HigherEd #FoodSustainability

Last weekend, the University of Bristol hosted a Welcome Fair Event for the class of 2023. Apart from the fair, what caught my attention was the level of marketing strategy executed by the Domino's team So, when we were entering the welcome fair, approximately 50 meters before the main gate Domino's team were distributing their Big Paper Bags with a student discount QR code printed on it. As we entered the fair there were more than 100 different booths representing various societies/ clubs/ groups. Almost every group offered free activities and goodies for all students and gave out free tote bags with their society’s name printed on it. The tote bags distributed by the societies and groups inside the fair were made of good quality clothes and had better design. However, what I noticed was students were still carrying the ordinary paper bag given by the Dominos team and were dumping the goodies and tote bags in the dominos paper bag. Domino’s first preference strategy not only eliminated the competition but made a humongous promotion of their brand. I could see students roaming with this bag not only in the fair but all over the bristol. Along with the student discount QR code on their bags, Dominos also gave away free pizza slices to students which generated a positive likeliness and favorability among the students and helped them create their student customer base by making students scan their QR code to buy pizza at discounted price. Overall, Dominos executed this very simple but quite effective marketing strategy that combined technology and human behavior/emotion. #freshers 2023 University of Bristol Domino's

Strategic Finance Consultant at FuturED Finance; partnering with CFOs to help colleges + universities
Is the star of the show the main dish (your education) or the side dish (athletics, meals, activities) at your #college or #university? In the past, we spent most of our time with CFOs. Now, presidents and provosts are calling us. They understand the importance of preparing higher ed institutions for enrollment declines, but do not understand enough about how to make strategic cost cuts. By understanding metrics like the costs to educate, house, and feed each student or the cost per athlete compared to the revenue per student, we can clearly see where we are spending money, and how that has changed over time. This understanding is the critical first step toward making strategic decisions about where to invest and where to cut. I associate these issues with the challenges chefs have when they create menus to help restaurants thrive. I’ve devised several steps you can take to help you understand the challenges specific to your institution. Read more.

Head of University and Careers Counselling | Educational Leadership | Life and Career Coach | Logo-therapist | Benziger Consultant | KeynoteSpeaker & Workshops | Empowering minds, shaping futures – one decision at a time
Many thanks to Universidad de La Sabana for warmly welcoming over 5,000 students. Walking through the campus and seeing students as young as 15 attending #career talks has been an eye-opening experience. Exploring the beautiful green #campus is undeniably a fantastic opportunity in the decision-making process. Today, Chef Daniel Prada Granada the director of the gastronomy program, gave us a guided tour. He not only provided valuable information about the program but also allowed one of our students to experience a class in the impressive kitchens. This program offers #professionaltraining where students not only learn about #cooking but also gain insights into processes, #marketing, and #businessmanagement with an entrepreneur focus. It opens doors to a broader and undoubtedly more opportunistic professional world. Furthermore, the crucial process of familiarizing with the campus, exploring the buildings that could potentially house their faculty, is indispensable. This step allows students to visualize their academic journey during the five years they will spend at the #university. It is not merely an inquiry process but also an integral part of #decision-making. This activity is essential in providing students with a clear understanding of their university experience. Thanks for a fantastic day for the accompanying staff and all the students who arrive here with excitement and the significant question, 'What do I want to become in the future?

BREAKING - Smarter Security rises to the challenge to help students at the University of St. Thomas! ❌ The Issue: Campus dining facilities were facing problems with ineffective meal plan management, loss from theft, long lines, and a frustrating student experience. The University’s goal was to find something simple, easy to maintain, streamline processes, and achieve cost savings. ✅ The Solution: Smarter Security assessed objectives to create a holistic solution for every obstacle. With the Glassgate 150 #turnstile integrated with touchless credentialing technology, the dining hall saw a 70% decrease in queuing and a 50% reduction in meal theft. The savings from employee consolidation, decrease in system abuse, and elimination of piggybacking yielded an impressive #ROI for the school. University Director of Dining Services, Steve Griffin, shares "the technology felt hightech and had a wow factor that impressed students and staff alike.” A win-win for the University of St. Thomas 🤝 Access the full case study here: https://hubs.la/Q01Y4ssP0
