Today we sent an open letter to Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak signed by 180+ ClimateTech leaders calling for the next government to prioritise support for climate innovation. "Supporting ClimateTech firms will maximise our chances of hitting our net zero goals, alongside ensuring the UK is home to the industries, jobs, and economic growth of the low-carbon future." Partnering with Stephen and the ClimateImpact team, our letter called for "a comprehensive and joined-up policy agenda that makes the UK the best place in the world to found a ClimateTech business which can then scale, commercialise and export to other markets." At the end of London Climate Action Week, and with under a week to go until polling day, ClimateTech has barely registered as an issue during the election campaign. This must change after July 4th - "it is an environmental and economic imperative". Good luck to you! But one or both may say they will support you but I don’t trust either of them… as history proves a campaign manifesto never reflects the actual policies of the winning candidate/PM…. It’s the most depressing General Election I can remember… I don’t trust or believe in either of them. It’s such a shame there Isn’t a 3rd, 4th, 5th candidate and viable choice. Sorry bit heavy and depressing for a Friday night. Please keep up your amazing work
Sadly with respect to real commitment to actually do something about climate change, this election seems set to have as much impact on the climate as changing your tye when you've crapped yourself. As ever short term agendas will rule. Not fit for purpose, but we have to keep on trying.
200% agree on this, climate has basically been ignored in all the debates to press and it is very disappointing, so glad this letter has been sent!
👏 - the sheer talent and potential of the climate tech sector in the UK is huge, but it needs more support!
Very happy to support this; an absolutely critical message
Great to partner on this 🚀
@magway fully behind this key initiative to support innovation and the future of UK economy
