💎 Wondering if your gemstone is real or fake? Here's a quick guide to help you out: 1. **Scratch Test:** Real gemstones are resistant to scratches, so try scratching the surface with a sharp object. If it leaves a mark, it might be fake. 2. **Water Test:** Drop the gemstone into a glass of water. Real gemstones generally sink, while fake ones may float. 3. **Loupe Examination:** Use a jeweler's loupe to inspect the stone closely. Look for imperfections, inclusions, and irregularities, which are common in real gemstones. 4. **Heat Test:** Heat the stone gently with a lighter for a few seconds. Real gemstones are usually unaffected, while fake ones may crack or change color. Remember, if you're unsure, it's always best to consult with a professional gemologist! #Gemstone #RealorFake #JewelryTips

Paraíba #tourmaline is a #rare and highly prized variety of tourmaline, renowned for its vivid blue and green colors, which are caused by trace amounts of copper and, sometimes, #manganese. Discovered in the late 1980s in the state of #Paraíba in #Brazil, this gemstone quickly gained international acclaim for its vibrant hues and remarkable beauty. 💠 Key Characteristics: 👉🏻 Color: The defining feature of Paraíba tourmaline is its electric blue to green coloration, often described as neon or glowing. 👉🏻 Chemical Composition: The presence of #copper (and sometimes manganese) gives the stone its unique color. 👉🏻 Rarity: Paraíba tourmalines are extremely rare, particularly those from the original Brazilian mines. This rarity significantly increases their value. 👉🏻 Locations: Besides #Brazil, similar tourmalines have been found in #Nigeria and #Mozambique. However, the Brazilian stones are typically considered the most valuable. 💠 Market Value: Paraíba tourmalines are some of the most expensive gemstones in the world, often fetching prices comparable to those of fine diamonds, rubies, and emeralds. Their value depends on color intensity, clarity, size, and origin. 💠 Care and Maintenance: Paraíba tourmalines, like other tourmalines, have a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, making them suitable for various types of jewelry. However, they should be handled with care to avoid scratches and should be cleaned with mild soap and water. 💠 Significance in Gemology: Paraíba tourmalines are considered a significant discovery in the gem world, not only for their beauty but also for the scientific insight they provide into the formation of minerals with trace elements. They have also driven increased interest in tourmaline as a whole, elevating the gemstone's status in the market. Overall, Paraíba tourmaline's combination of striking beauty, rarity, and unique geological properties makes it a standout in the world of gemstones. Diamtrader Photo: marcelloriccio.com

Bi-color sapphires are a fascinating category of sapphires that exhibit two distinct colors within the same gemstone. These unique gemstones are prized for their beauty and rarity. The two colors often occur in distinct zones or bands within the stone, creating a striking contrast. The formation of bi-color sapphires typically occurs due to variations in the mineral composition or environmental conditions during their crystallization process. For example, the presence of different trace elements or fluctuations in temperature and pressure can lead to the development of multiple colors within the same crystal. The below 2.30 Ct & 2.60 “UNHEATED” Bi Color Sapphires are fine examples 🙏
