In my conversation with Schwab Network, I highlighted some #ETF trends based on our proprietary ETF data. ·      Defensive ETF categories like Utilities (XLU), Consumer Staples (XLP) and Low Vol / High Dividend (SPHD, LVHD) have been strong performers recently, due to the April market pullback. ·      However, aggregate ETF flows indicate that investors are still optimistic. This is consistent with the view of CFRA Research's Chief Investment Strategist Sam Stovall, who recently revised our 12-month target for the S&P 500 to 5,610 (which implies a 2024 year-end target of 5,415). ·      Shipping ETFs like BOAT and SEA have also done well this year, reflecting more optimism around global trade following a 1.2% decline in merchandise trade volume in 2023 (source: WTO Global Trade Outlook, Apr 2024). ·      Other macro trends impacting ETF investors include continued dollar strength (USDU up 5.7% YTD) and appreciation in gold (GLD up 13% YTD). https://lnkd.in/gSChRtNg
