Transformational Leadership & Culture - ⭐️ Facilitator - Trainer (HRDC Certified) ⭐️Consultant ⭐️Social Justice Activist
I started looking for part time work in Jun 2023 within the growing co - nfp - local council world in the areas of People & Culture in Naarm (Melbourne). By end Jul 2023 I started refining my applications by only applying for full time Learning & Development opportunities as had been successful in reaching 2nd interviews for 2 L&D roles within the NFP world. In early Aug 23 I spoke to a Learning & Development recruiter within a boutique recruitment agency that was recommended to me and they confirmed that’s the best way forward. In the end of Aug 23 I also started applying for full time Snr Scrum Master roles… (minimal these days !) In Sept 23 I added full time Snr BA roles in my applications .. another 1st interview for an L&D in a NFP came and went.. In mid Oct 23 I decided it was time to stop applying for roles in these lands and change course. What did I learn from the experience of applying for 30 roles for 4.5 months in 2023 ? 🔎 without introductions by networks in senior roles in these lands, the probability of your CV being even looked at is extremely low ! 🔎 if you have not worked directly in People & Culture even though you have worked along side them for 25 years in L&D of business areas - hiring managers will rank you lower. 🔎 1 in 6 roles I applied for.. the roles were cancelled by companies for various reasons. What has your experience as a highly qualified individual in 2023 who doesn’t have a typical CV ? #jobmarket #jobapplicationtips #transparency

"How can I transition from a Human Resources to a business analyst role?" Here's a step-by-step guide to help make the transition success: 1. Understand the Role of a Business Analyst: Business analysts typically work on analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, gathering and documenting requirements for projects, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. Understanding the expectations from the role will give you clarity on the nature of job involved. 2. Map Your Skills and Identify Transferable Ones: Reflect on your experience as a human resources professional and identify skills that can be transferred to a business analyst role. This may include strong communication skills, ability to understand and interpret data, stakeholder management, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. 3. Seek Hands-on Experience: While a specific degree isn't always required for a business analyst role, it will be good to have gained some practical hands-on exposure of working on a project before joining any company as a BA. Without practical exposure, you will no clue how to work on a project, what type of documentation needs to be done and how analysis can be done. Additionally, obtaining certifications such as the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) can demonstrate your commitment to the field and help you stand out to employers. 4. Gain Knowledge of Business Analysis Tools and Techniques: Familiarize yourself with common business analysis tools and techniques used in the industry. This may include requirements elicitation and documentation techniques, process modeling, data analysis, and project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum. 5. Tailor Your Resume and Cover Letter: When applying for business analyst positions, highlight relevant experiences and skills from your time as a recruiter. Emphasize your ability to gather and analyze information, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and drive projects to successful outcomes. 6. Prepare for Interviews: Be prepared to discuss how your experience as a HR translates to the business analyst role during interviews. Showcase your analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of business processes. Be ready to provide specific examples of projects or initiatives you've been involved in that demonstrate your capabilities. By following these steps and leveraging your existing skills and experiences, you can successfully transition from a recruiter to a business analyst role. 50 days 50 Questions of a Business Analyst Interview Question: Explain the difference between a Business Analyst and a Project Manager? While a Project Manager is responsible for project execution and delivery, a Business Analyst focuses on understanding business needs, defining requirements, and ensuring solutions align with those needs. In the dynamic world of business and technology, the roles of Business Analyst (BA) and Project Manager (PM) are often intertwined, yet they serve distinct functions within a project. Here's a brief overview to help clarify their differences: A Business Analyst focuses on understanding and documenting business needs and requirements. They are the bridge between stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring that the final product meets the user's needs. Key responsibilities include: - Gathering and analyzing data - Creating detailed documentation - Developing functional specifications - Facilitating communication between stakeholders On the other hand, a Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and closing of a project. They ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. Key responsibilities include: - Defining project scope and objectives - Creating and managing a project plan - Coordinating team members and resources - Monitoring project progress and addressing issues All in all, while the BA ensures that the right product is built to meet business needs, the PM ensures that the product is built right, managing the project's logistics and delivery. Understanding these roles is crucial for successful project execution and aligning business goals with technical capabilities. #BusinessAnalyst #ProjectManager #BusinessAnalysis #ProjectManagement #TechCareers #BusinessGrowth #ITProjects #CareerInsights #ProfessionalDevelopment #opentowork
