CharIN, together with ABS Group, Black & Veatch, and Crowley held the third workshop in a series of five at the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expoin Amsterdam on June 20. The group held two panel discussions with experts from industry and academia. 1️⃣Session One saw Baumüller and Crowley give examples of projects they've realized without an MCS standard in place, resulting in one-off solutions and high costs. Product owners from Kempower and Cavotec explained their efforts in developing chargers and connectors with still potential changes in the standard. 2️⃣Session Two focused on future projects using MCS in the real world. Shell launched the world's first dual-use MCS charging station in Amsterdam, able to charge both vessels and road vehicles. ABB spoke about an electric passenger ferry project in New Zealand. Hamburg Port Authority outlined the changing role of port operators in the future and how they are offering charging to customers. Lastly TU Berlin highlighted the potentials of inland shipping to reduce emissions by electrifying. 🚀The two remaining virtual workshops will take place in late summer and fall. These will spotlight the Asia/Pacific region and varies different electrification solutions that have been implemented to date. But as the standard gets closer to publication, how more and more pilot projects are underway. We look forward to your attendance and future collaboration. ⚡Register here to sign up for our mailing list: https://lnkd.in/eFXMHNfm #charin #marineelectrification #mcs #megawattcharging #sustainability #workshop #electrichybridmarineexpo
