Well worth a read about the dangers of AI and how this continues to affect the #DigitalSkills gap - some brilliant work again from FutureDotNow in bringing this to life 👏🏻 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
🗣 “There are significant #DigitalSkills gaps across the working population, in every #sector, nation and region, and every age group, and the advent of #AI is likely to only widen this gap.” 🛑 Recent data on the impact of AI on the #UKworkforce says 8 million jobs could be a risk. That figure is worrying enough, but when we know that 54% of the UK labour force are missing digital essentials, this is, at the very least a conservative estimate. 🚨 Ahead of tomorrow’s Workforce Digital Skills summit, we're raising the alarm over workforce readiness for AI. We’ve convened a group of industry leaders to share their thoughts on the action we need to take. Hear from: 🔷 Liz Williams MBE, CEO of FutureDotNow 🔷 Peter Cheese, CEO of CIPD 🔷 Antony Walker, Deputy CEO of techUK 🔷 Deborah O'Neill, Head of Digital Europe for Oliver Wyman 🔷 Karen Licurse, Managing Director of Digital Boost 🔷 Anthony Impey MBE, CEO of Be the Business https://lnkd.in/eNGf-iRD

McKinsey's latest report, "A New Future of Work: The Race to Deploy AI and Raise Skills in Europe and Beyond," highlights the transformative impact of AI and automation on labor markets in Europe and the United States. By 2030, up to 30% of current hours worked could be automated, driven by advancements in generative AI. This shift necessitates significant occupational transitions and skills upgrades, with Europe potentially requiring up to 12 million transitions and the United States nearly 12 million, aligning with prepandemic levels. Key Recommendations For Businesses: Proactive Technological Adoption: Companies should anticipate technological changes and implement them while establishing robust worker training structures, supporting employees, and attracting the right talent. This proactive approach may require significant capital investment and training hours but is crucial for maintaining competitive advantage. Strategic Workforce Shifts: Businesses need to plan for a strategic workforce shift, identifying key areas for AI and automation implementation and assessing future talent gaps. This includes recruiting new talent, upskilling, or reskilling the current workforce, and redeploying freed capacity to more value-added tasks. Prioritize People Development: Companies should set up dedicated talent "win rooms" to identify, attract, and recruit future AI leaders and accelerate building AI capabilities within the workforce. Nontechnical talent also needs training to adapt to the changing skills environment. For Individuals: Skills Development: Focus on developing advanced IT, data analytics, critical thinking, creativity, and teaching skills. These skills are in high demand and will be crucial to thriving in the evolving job market. Lifelong Learning: Embrace continuous learning and be open to retraining opportunities provided by employers. Staying adaptable and updating skills regularly will help individuals stay relevant and competitive. For Governments: Supportive Policies: Governments should frame smart public policies that facilitate occupational transitions and support skill-building. Developing "lighthouse examples" in public services can demonstrate the path toward human capital development. Investment in Education: Invest in education and training programs that align with the future needs of the labor market. Partnering with businesses to create relevant curricula and training programs will help bridge the skills gap. By focusing on these strategies, businesses, individuals, and governments can navigate the significant labor market shifts driven by AI and automation, ensuring a more productive and inclusive future of work. #AI #FutureofWork #WorkForceDevelopment #Automation #BusinessStrategy #McKinsey

AI is set to create 200,000 new jobs in Australia over the next 6 years. This isn't a political promise—it's a real opportunity that demands our attention. But here's the challenge: We need to grow our AI workforce by 500% in just 7 years. How do we make this happen? Here are my top 5 takeaways from the "Meeting the AI Skills Boom" report released today, every leader should consider: 1. Embrace AI or risk obsolescence: It's no longer optional—AI adoption is crucial for staying competitive. 2. Understand your AI workforce needs: Is your team developing, scaling, governing, or managing AI? Identifying this mix is essential for your AI literacy strategy. 3. Lead the career pivot: Chief People Officers must spearhead this change, integrating technology into the core of HR strategies. 4. Seize the economic opportunity: AI could inject $115 billion annually into Australia's economy, with 70% coming from productivity gains. We need a national AI Investment and Capability Plan to address skill gaps and maximise benefits. 5. Revolutionise education: To meet AI skill demands, we must diversify training pathways through increased VET participation and short-course programs. The AI revolution is here. Are you ready to lead your organisation into this new era of opportunity? https://lnkd.in/gjqjbqdw Lisa Bouari , Ean Evans, John Hoffman, Lukas Bower, Catriona Campbell MBE Kurt Solarte #AIJobs #FutureOfWork #LeadershipInAI

Great insights in this McKinsey & Company report. Couple of takeaways as I read this: 1. The integration of #AI is set to significantly alter the skills required for multiple fields by 2030. If workers aren't retrained effectively, there could be significant skill shortages, particularly in #STEM and business fields, which could hinder productivity and economic growth. 2. The rate at which AI is adopted will significantly impact productivity growth in Europe. Adopt faster, and Europe boosts productivity by 3.1% - but slower adoption and worker training limits it to 0.3% This is yet another data-point for a coordinated effort between policymakers, businesses, and educational institutions to manage the transition towards an AI-driven economy effectively.

Enhancing human capital development will be crucial in preparing the workforce of tomorrow. By 2030, up to 30% of current work hours in Europe and the US could be automated, and STEM-related and healthcare professions could also experience significant growth. Not only Europe and the US demand different workforce strategies and skills development. Latin America and the Caribbean also needs to develop its human capital to thrive in the present and the future. These shifts present both challenges and opportunities for education. What can #education systems do to leverage these new scenarios? How can we reinvent the #classroom to develop the skills required for future jobs? For this ongoing debate, we can learn from key insights from the latest McKinsey research, “A new future of work: The race to deploy AI and raise skills in Europe and beyond”: Read more here 👉 https://bit.ly/4erpCjO #FutureOfWork #AI #Automation #STEM #HumanCapital
