Here's the best part of volunteering: reading motivational feline literature like The Cat in the Hat to sweet lil Mango (who was adopted)!

I'm using my underemployed free time to help local dogs, cats, bunnies, and Guinea pigs who need furever homes. It's not glamorous - taking out the trash, washing windows, mopping floors, folding laundry - but if keeping the facilities clean leads to adoptions I'll do it all day every day, and it's a great bunch of folks. Plus it's awesome to love on some rescues!

Tomorrow I return to Las Vegas so you probably wont hear from me until I'm back to work. I didn't even bring a jacket on this trip and I timed it just about perfectly as only a few days ago it dramatically turned to rainy fall (I do have a poncho!) I spent the last couple of weeks in Andalucia, Spain, my favorite part where I also looked at properties. It was great to finally be able to speak with locals in something other than English and silly hand gestures. My flight is out of Lisbon so I returned here by night bus yesterday. In the spirit of finishing such a profound and epic round-the-world journey with style, I saw a La Liga match, Sevilla vs Real Madrid, played a last few rounds of disc golf, and enjoyed a lovely Lisbon sunset to send me home.

The final leg of the journey around the world (Turkey, Greece, Spain, and Portugal) ends here in Lisbon. It's been an amazing adventure and my precious Tuco's tags made it all the way on my pack as his intrepid spirit walked beside me. I will be back in Las Vegas Oct. 25. If anyone knows a guy whose cousin has a friend with any technical writing opportunities please let me know. Thanks everyone!

I understand LinkedIn is primarily used for profession-related comms, but since I'm using my gainful semi-unemployment to knock out some bucket listers that counts, right? Hopefully some of my friends who've been laid off see that it's not an end but more of a beginning, and it's certainly not as expensive as you might think. The pics are trekking in Nepal and visiting some pointy buildings. Cheers everyone!

The world today has little to do with what you know versus whether you can occupy a cubicle chair and answer "yes sir" to help pay off the lease. Be patient as the tables will turn again.
