Engaging with staff and being open and honest are key elements of a successful inspection, answering questions such as “do we have a proactive and positive learning culture?” So what role does Clinical Audit play in the inspection process?
Clinical Audit is all about the evidence, and so goes hand-in-hand with inspections. And of course National Audits are a valuable indicator of what the inspection team might be looking for. Angela Ward of Oxford Health, and Stuart Metcalfe of University Hospitals Bristol & Weston, discuss all this plus how the new single assessment framework introduces new categories for evidence.
There’s discourse on what Trusts can do in terms of self-assessment prior to an inspection by looking at KLOEs, medical care, surgical and emergency care as well as basing audit plans on any previously highlighted concerns.
