Our new production line for cleaning semiconductor-grade polysilicon celebrated its topping-out ceremony yesterday. With this investment, expected to exceed €300 million, our WACKER POLYSILICON division is expanding its capacity for semiconductor-grade polysilicon by well over 50 percent while setting another quality milestone. Substantial investment in research and innovation will further enhance the purity of our product. In this way, we provide the raw-material base for high-quality chips of the latest and subsequent generations. “As the only European producer of high-purity polysilicon, we are proud to be making an important contribution to strengthening Europe’s microelectronics value chain with this project,” emphasized Dr. Tobias Brandis, president of WACKER POLYSILICON, at the topping-out ceremony. Our new polysilicon cleaning facility is one of the EU’s "Important Projects of Common European Interest.” Because of its IPCEI status, our project is being funded by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action and the State of Bavaria to the tune of some €46 million.
