CEO Roundtable on Cancer and Project Data Sphere Announce Approval of New ICD-10-CM Codes for Immune-Related Adverse Events: https://lnkd.in/e7thAVZ7 The CEO Roundtable on Cancer and Project Data Sphere are thrilled to announce the approval of new ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes for immune-related adverse events (irAEs) in the United States. These codes, set to be implemented nationwide on October 1, 2024, are the result of the dedicated research efforts conducted under the Global Oncology Big Data Alliance (GOBDA), our innovative collaborative initiative launched in 2017 with Merck KGaA. The Burroughs-Wellcome Fund provided additional support for this initiative. Why is this important? IrAEs can occur when the activated immune system inadvertently attacks healthy tissues during immunotherapy. The lack of specific diagnosis codes has hindered appropriate reimbursement and the accurate tracking of these events. With these new codes, clinicians will be better equipped to recognize and manage irAEs, and researchers will have access to valuable data to conduct comprehensive studies. This milestone is an important step in our mission to improve the lives of patients with cancer worldwide. We are proud to have collaborated with industry, academia, the National Cancer Institute, and the US Food and Drug Administration to make this possible.
