I attend events like this because real estate connects to every aspect of economic development and community strength. Big news for downtown Dallas! The new Convention Center budget has grown to a total cost of $3 billion, expanding the footprint west towards Reunion, West End, and the former Dallas Morning News HQ site. Taxpayers approved the $2 billion new center as part of the 2022 bond package called Prop A on the ballot. The site will include a hotel, retail, multi-family, and more. This is a game changer for the growing downtown area, which has seen explosive growth post-pandemic with over 20 high-profile new developments under construction in the CBD area and edges. With 40 conventions on the schedule as a result of the new convention center announcement, it’s clear that Dallas is quickly becoming a hub for business and innovation. As someone who owns property near the new convention center site and has been involved in seeing this side of town (southeastern side) developed for almost 17 years, I am extra excited for what’s to come.
