This is an interesting read and it highlights issues in the fostering and adoption arena affect Black and minority children. The research highlights disparities in care proceeding and intervention. These statistics lead us to many unanswered questions but point out a key problem that needs addressing according to statistics" ...black children are most likely to experience adultification bias, resulting in their rights being diminished or ignored and hindering child protection responses" More needs to be done to address this as we are failing children that require support. This also echoes an article this week that highlights the Met police are doing the same with criminally exploited youth! https://lnkd.in/gGYfSDA7.

What reporting options does a survivor have in Colorado? In Colorado, survivors between 18 and 69 years old without intellectual or developmental disabilities have three reporting options. It's important to note that only one involves speaking with the police. The other two options enable survivors to seek medical care and collect evidence without police involvement. Remember, the decision about evidence collection is entirely in the survivor's hands, not dictated by medical providers or law enforcement. If the survivor is a student, teacher, or employee of a school, college, or university, there may be additional rights and reporting options to explore. Your choices matter, and support is available.
