On October 26, 2023, at the initiative of the Department of Public Management and Administration of Mariupol State University, the 5th International Scientific and Practical Conference, "Public Management for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects at the National and Local Levels," was held. The conference is organised with the support of the OPTIMA project "Open Practices, Transparency and Integrity for Modern Academia" under the Erasmus+ KA2 program in partnership with universities of Ukraine, Poland, Georgia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Great Britain and the USA. The conference was attended by domestic and foreign scientists, representatives of authorities, local self-government, the public, university teachers and students of all higher education levels. The conference created a platform for scientific exchanges and discussion of the challenges and prospects of our country's post-war reconstruction and sustainable development. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach that unites scientists, practitioners and civil servants in joint efforts to solve the most pressing challenges of modern Ukraine was emphasised. https://lnkd.in/es_H53ww

Restoring Ukraine’s public scientific infrastructure is estimated to exceed $1.26 billion, as reported by UNESCO. At the recent "Rebuilding Scientific Ecosystem in Ukraine" UNESCO Symposium, Vivi Stavrou, ISC Senior Science Officer and Executive Secretary of the ISC Committee for Freedom and Responsibility in Science (CFRS), emphasized the importance of a global framework to protect science and scientists during crises. She highlighted the lack of such a framework, unlike those existing for education and culture, which could inform both preventive and emergency measures, as well as post-crisis rebuilding strategies for science - and underscored the shared responsibility of all actors in the science and research sector to prepare for crises, enhance sector resilience, and support affected scientists worldwide. Yesterday, we finished a one-year scientific project on the analysis of the current state and restoration of science in Ukraine. Our public presentation covered 11 books, 2 of which I am adding here for public review on recovery. My scientific experience with 29 of my fellow scientists during the war. How to preserve science when we worked every week under shelling? How to recover? how to preserve human capital? how to help the state to survive and recover in such conditions? This is my experience and observation from my continuous 10 years of research that as long as the research keeps on disseminating a researcher feels super motivated and satisfied. The same is the case with me when I got very satisfied. On the 29th of May, our research paper was presented by super diligent Ms. Sohni Siddiqui at an international conference hosted by Cyprus.
