Today is World Earth Day - this serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental protection and sustainability. 🌎 It's a day to reflect on our relationship with the planet and to take action to preserve and protect it for future generations. At Spirax, we are committed to eliminating all Single Use Plastic Packaging (SUP) and non-recyclable packaging by 2025, unless mandated by customer requirement or regulation. 📦 In Global Supply Chain the packaging project has been identified as a focus area for 2024 and a roadmap has been developed to replace all single use plastic. The team has successfully completed the plastic packaging mapping across all our Global Supply Chain sites and we are evaluating and researching alternatives. In some of our operations we have already incorporated paper-based packaging materials - paper tape instead of plastic tape, paper-based jiffy bags replacing plastic bags, coiled paper cushioning for polyurethane as void fillers. Find out more about our one planet initiatives in the comments below. 👇🏽 #earthday #worldearthday24 #sustainability #oneplanet #spiraxsarco

From Bumper to Bumper ♻️ For over 30 years, MOCOM has led the charge in advancing the circular economy for technical polymers, converting waste into valuable production materials. Our innovative processes meticulously break down production waste and discarded parts, such as painted automotive bumpers, into their fundamental components. Given that bumpers are composed of PP+EPDM composites, we've refined our technology to efficiently remove paint from these plastics at scale and in record time, distinguishing us within the industry. In the post-industrial recycling of bumpers, MOCOM rigorously shreds production waste to precise specifications and eliminates paint particles using a delaminator developed in-house. Following this, the cleaned plastic components undergo optoelectronic separation to ensure thorough paint removal before regranulation. The PP+EPDM recyclate compounds can then be utilized in new bumpers up to 40% and up to 100% in replacement parts, delivering a cost-effective solution with a reduced carbon footprint through material reuse. Join us on our "bumper-to-bumper" journey as we compound a sustainable future, transforming old bumpers into new ones! #BumperRecycling #ClosedLoop #DesignForRecycling #DesignWithRecycling #DesignForCircularity #CompoundingASustainableFuture #MOCOM

As a textile manufacturer that dyes and finishes premium quality sewing threads, we and our partners at Elevate Textiles inevitably use a significant amount of water in our manufacturing processes. Therefore, the responsible use of water as a valuable resource is an important focus and a priority on our journey to greater sustainability. As a result, Elevate Textiles recycles wastewater by operating three ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) systems and four UF/RO (Ultrafiltration/Reverse Osmosis) systems at sites around the world. Six of our dyeing facilities fulfil ZDHC Supplier to Zero Level 2 (progressive). TERSUS Solutions has been issued a groundbreaking down and feather sterilization permit from the International Down and Feather Laboratory (IDFL) for our proprietary CO2 cleaning process. This is one of the most significant technological advancements for the down industry in decades. This innovative method enables us to sterilize down without relying on heat or any other conventional sterilization processes, resulting in substantial energy savings. Furthermore, our proprietary cleaning process dramatically reduces the waste of down material and requires no water, making it the most environmentally friendly way to process and clean recycled down. We are grateful for our numerous end of life down product suppliers and our recycled down buyers who are striving to keep this scarce natural material in use. We also want to give a special shout-out to Crescent Down Works, who was the first brand to use our recycled down in their beautifully made outerwear. Check out their products if you're not familiar! This is another major step for Tersus as we lead toward a more circular future for textiles and continue to be the backbone of recommerce™.
