I have been the Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Corporate and Employee Benefits for exactly 100 days today. It’s been an exciting journey loaded with different emotions. But the most overwhelming emotion I’ve felt in the past couple of months is that of gratitude – gratitude for being the first black female CEO in the Discovery Limited Group, and for being given such a huge responsibility; gratitude for the incredible executive team and broader team that I am partnering with; and gratitude for the opportunity to build and shape a business that I have no doubt will be part of Discovery’s growth story. The Corporate and Employee Benefits (CEB) business is the newest business unit within the Discovery Group, but it is already a very important part of the organisation. Our vision is to be a pivotal force in South Africa’s growth story, enabling people and business to thrive. What excites me the most is that we’ve spent the past 100 days truly understanding what employers want and how best to provide what employees need to cope with the current state of the world we operate in and the challenging economic times. Once we knew what our clients wanted, we looked at our business’ needs. We focused on our own people within the CEB team and making sure that we had all the right skills in place because, without the right team, you can't possibly be expected to play your best game. I’m confident now that – at 100 days - we are where we need to be not only to get the job done but also to play a bigger and important role in our economy and in our country. We are now at a point where we can see the architecture that we’d drawn on paper coming to life. I am so excited about all the things we are going to do in the next 100 days and beyond. The video interview which is included in this post features an excellent discussion between myself and Discovery’s Chief People Officer, Zimkhitha Saungweme, in which I share some of the paramount moments and challenges experienced in my first 100 days as CEO of the CEB division. I am grateful to Zim, for her kindness and willingness to sit with me and reflect. Please share your thoughts and comments with me below – let me know if anything in our discussion resonated strongly with you at all. #NewJob #Growth #Future #100Days

Director @ Talent Table | Building communities in HR, Learning, Talent and Talent Acquisition to move the dial on how we think about the futures of work
How often do we talk about failure? And we have all failed at some point in our careers. How do we come back from it? What did you learn? Did you survive it? I have never been comfortable with failure and find it very hard to come back from it. So let's talk about it. Join Marnelli Cosinas to talk about Failing Fast, Rising Faster: Unveiling Valuable Lessons from Failures. She will lead a track at #truSydney where we can all discuss how we have failed, what we have learned, and how we rose from it. This is a topic not often discussed but one I think is incredibly valuable, and Marnelli is being very brave to step up as track lead to bring this to us. Two years on and the magic fairy dust is still there - Natalie “Do you believe in magic fairy dust that makes a business sparkle” were the words that first interested me in becoming a PEA at Peas in a Pod Consulting. From day one, it felt like stepping into a supportive company where integrity, empowerment, friendliness alongside communication and accountability thrives. The enthusiasm from all my fellow PEAs practically bounces off the walls! On my first day, I remember the warm welcome extended by Kay, Rebecca and Beth. Getting to select my office slippers set the tone for what has become two years of great memories. Rebecca and Kay embody visionary leadership, steering us all toward excellence with unwavering dedication and a profound commitment to our collective success. However, what truly sets the Company apart is its people - colleagues who have become more than just coworkers; they are mentors, collaborators, and friends. Together, we've weathered challenges, celebrated victories, and forged bonds that extend far beyond the boundaries of our professional environment. The infectious spirit and friendship that fills every nook and cranny of the POD makes working there a great experience. (And let's not forget the constant supply of brownies that sweeten the deal!) As I ponder over the last couple of years, I can't help but feel like someone entrusted a squirrel with a nut stash - deeply appreciative for the trust placed in me to add some zest to our collective goals! Whether it's brainstorming sessions that spark creativity, project deadlines that foster resilience, or team outings that foster camaraderie, every moment spent with the PEAs family has been a testament to the power of collaboration and the beauty of shared purpose. Looking ahead, I am excited about the limitless possibilities that lie on the horizon. With our collective talents, I am confident that we will continue to surpass expectations, break barriers, and redefine success. I look forward to the exciting experiences that lie ahead of us in the future. Here's to celebrating two years of awesomeness, and to many more achievements yet to come! #WorkAnniversary #2Years #fairydust #HRConsultancy

I'm very excited to officially announce the launch of my new company, Keystone Consulting (keystoneaction.com). I've been fortunate to have had a lengthy and rewarding corporate career. I've worked in some great companies at really important moments. I've loved the mental stimulation of trying to find the right lever to unlock an organisation and create forward movement. Equally, I've relished the task of driving delivery in complex business landscapes and in the face of challenging organisational dynamics. I don't plan to stop, only now to do it in a different context. There is a wealth of choice available to organisations to support their strategic thinking and strategic planning phases, there is much less support for strategic execution. As organisations move into execution mode, it’s often left to the internal team to deliver. And yet, when major strategic initiatives surface, it is rare for the day job to ease up - "keep doing the day job, but also deliver this mission critical agenda". The design is clear on what the change needs to achieve, but not how to deliver it in your unique organisational context. This feels like missed opportunity. So, in step Keystone! Our goal is to partner with you to drive execution - providing specialist capability and creating extra capacity. Our focus is on supporting organisations at various stages of delivery, whether you’re: - Initiating a major change and anticipating push back - Reigniting an agenda that has stalled or is stuck - Aligning people and culture activity with business strategy or redesigning for commercial impact - Operationalising strategic initiatives at the front-line We operate on the principle that certain actions, when strategically aligned and executed, can trigger a positive ripple effect across an organisation and have a transformative impact. We specialise in identifying and delivering these material activities, accelerating achievement of your business objectives. We call them Keystone Actions. If you're in the midst of one of these critical moments, or just need support moving into action, we're here to help shift your organisation from issue to outcome. Drop me a note here or email me at mark@keystoneaction.com if there are current challenges you want to soundboard.

M&A isn’t just about buying or selling, it’s about facilitating the next chapter for a business. Every deal is different as is every vendor’s reason for looking towards a transaction. That’s the fun, listening to what a vendor wants and shaping something that delivers for them. The video depicts how we support businesses, open doors and create onward opportunities. If you’d like to know more, please do reach out.
2023 has been a fantastic year for Ardonagh Advisory where we’ve welcomed some exceptional new businesses. It’s been a year of expanding our geographical reach across the UK, of broadening our range of specialist offerings, and one where we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming hundreds of talented colleagues to the business. We thought we’d take a moment to catch up with the teams involved and speak to some of our businesses to find out a little bit more about their experiences of joining Ardonagh Advisory...

We celebrated Entrepreneur’s Day last week and you know how much I enjoy working with business owners and how I respect the entrepreneurial spirit. But you don’t have to be a business owner to bring an entrepreneurial drive to your role, no matter where you are in your career. At Randstad, I see how having an entrepreneurial mindset drives success. I see it in recruiters, staffing managers, area vice presidents. And those folks who have that drive understand that success isn’t just about meeting their targets; it’s about making meaningful connections, driving growth, and facilitating opportunities for both talent and clients. Every interaction becomes a stepping stone toward something better. So, to all our team members at Randstad: keep building those bridges, making connections, and thriving on your own entrepreneurial journey. 🙌💪

I help senior leaders make sense of complex problems so they can do good in the world. 💡Researcher | analyst | people connector
I just love the way this winning moment was captured! Two weekends ago the team Linh Le, Bonnie Selak, Fred Sugden, Nina Lily Kim, Gemma Bell and I mentored for the Asia New Zealand Foundation won the Young Enterprise competition to develop a business plan and pitch to export a beauty product offshore. The competition was so fierce, we really didn't expect to win. I think that's what made us super stoked, as you can well see here! At lunchtime, before the pitch, one of the students asked us why we would give up three days to help them with something like this. (Great question!). For me, it's a personal drive to connect with people in the community I might not normally come across in my routine journeys. I am always curious, love learning and understanding the perspectives of others. I use this information to make sense of and build a more nuanced understanding of the world and how others see and experience it. That's why I intentionally put myself in places where I'll get to engage with people I might not otherwise, in this case a bunch of super bright and entrepreneurial teenagers. How do they see the world? What is similar and different to they way they experience every day as compared to when I was of a similar age? This kind of intentional engagement increases the understanding and perspective that I am able to bring to the various kaupapa I work on for Anita Perkins Consulting. I think it also just helps me to try and be a more empathetic person. And, best of all, it leads to unexpected, glorious moments, like this winning announcement, that we'll never forget. I'm curious. Do you have a habit of intentionally engaging in communities with experiences different to your own? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kia ora and guten tag! I'm Anita. I help managers, project leads and CEOs create positive change by doing the research, analysis, writing and people-connecting stuff to make it happen. ✅😊 I'm passionate about projects that help people and the environment, locally and globally. info@anitaperkinsconsulting.com
