Finishing the 2024 edition of the Data Spaces Symposium. I am very satisfied after these intense days talking about #dataspaces. A lot of progress has happened at technical level, good paths in terms of standardization, which is key to foster interoperability and give stability and credibility to the market, and hence, attract #investments. I personally contributed to the perspectives on how to generate #value out of #datasharing, how to measure the impact of the data operations enabled by the data space and how to ensure understanding at business level, thanks to our work in projects like European Data Space for Smart Communities, Graph-Massivizer Project and PISTIS and former project DATES Tourism Data Space. Looking forward to the new edition, expecting progress at deployment and operational levels. Delighted that the Cilium session Daniel Finneran and I submitted got accepted for KubeCon Paris. A Cilium Introduction: Back to Bee-Sics will be on the Cloud Native Experience track. 🐝 We only have 35 minutes so we won't rush through slides to cover the multitude of Cilium use cases or the weeds of eBPF. Instead, we'll talk about the problems Cilium might solve for users - how do I secure the applications to my cluster? How do I deal with application networking issues? How do I expose applications and APIs to my clients? How do I ensure I meet regulatory requirements such as encryption of data in transit? We'll definitely carve some time out to do some cool demos 🧙🏾♂️ Who's planning on attending our session?

CockroachDB vs. Amazon Aurora: Comparing Distributed Transactional Databases. Amazon #Aurora is Amazon Web Services (AWS)’ own #Cloud relational #database development that comes in many flavours (#PostGreSQL, #MySQL, #Serverless, Global Database, …). How does it compare to an outside contender that’s also supported on all major #publiccloud platforms? Good introduction by Cockroach Labs on how their distributed transactional (#opensource) database #CockroachDB compares to #Aurora in several predetermined architectural categories (not so much on workload criteria).
