Did you know? UV exposure that leads to sunburn has proven to play a strong role in developing #melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer. According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, UV rays that damage skin cells can also alter a gene that suppresses tumors, raising the risk of sun-damaged skin cells developing into #SkinCancer. #PracticeSafeSun☀️: cover up, seek shade, wear sunscreen, and don't forget your 👀 — wear sunglasses! #UVSafetyAwarenessMonth #ShareTheFacts #CastleCares

Mechanisms of melanoma aggressiveness with age Age-related changes that cause the skin to stiffen and become less elastic may also contribute to higher rates of metastatic skin cancer in older people, according to research by investigators. The study, published in Nature Aging, shows that increased stiffness in aging skin increases the release of a protein called ICAM1. Increased ICAM1 levels stimulate blood vessel growth in the tumor, helping it grow. It also makes the blood vessels “leaky,” enabling tumor cells to escape and spread throughout the body more easily. #ScienceMission #ScienceNewsHighlights https://lnkd.in/gdr_v9KX

Alveolar soft part sarcoma, or ASPS, is a cancer that can come from different types of soft tissue, such as muscle, fat, or nerves. It may also be called alveolar soft tissue sarcoma, alveolar sarcoma of soft parts, or ASP sarcoma. ASPS usually starts in the leg, although it can also begin in other parts of the body, including the arms, head, or neck. It can be difficult to find in the early stages because it starts as a painless lump. By the time it is discovered, ASPS often has spread to other places in the body, in particular, the lungs. ASPS tends to spread early because it creates a network of blood vessels through which cancer cells can travel. Your doctor will monitor your whole body for signs of the cancer spreading. #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #snsdesignthinking

Hi everyone A nice case has been reported this morning so i want to share with all of you. As we all know that cancer of cervix often fails locally within the pelvis. One to two percent of cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients have lung metastases at presentation and 5–40% develop pulmonary metastases later on. The Common sites of metastases are the liver, bone, and bowel. We report a rare case of cervical squamous cell cancer by means of fish analysis where heterochronous metastasis occurred in the skin, spleen, and pancreas with locoregional recurrence. Fish analysis reveals multiple copies of chromosome 3. #cytogenetics #fish #analysis #cervical #cancer #awarness #chemoradiation #female #safety #protocols

Raising Awareness, Highlighting Hope Bones are a common site for distant #metastases, where #CancerCells spread from a primary tumor to other parts of the body. Cancers like prostate, breast, and lung are most likely to spread to bones, but nearly any cancer has this potential. Metastases can weaken bones, increasing the risk of fractures. Thankfully, #CyberKnife by Accuray is available. It is a non-surgical option for treating bone metastases and spinal tumors delivering targeted high-dose radiation to cancer cells while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue. Taiba Medserv is here to make high-quality care accessible. These cancers are tough, but so are we. Let's debunk this myth! While a mastectomy significantly reduces the risk of recurrence, it does not completely eliminate it. Here’s why: • Residual Tissue: Even after a mastectomy, small amounts of breast tissue may remain in the chest wall or underarm area. These residual tissues can potentially develop cancer cells in the future. • Microscopic Cells: If cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body before the mastectomy, they might remain undetected. These microscopic cells can later grow and cause a recurrence. • Local vs. Distant Recurrence: Cancer can return in the chest wall (local) or spread to other organs (distant). Understanding this helps in making informed decisions about treatment and follow-up care. Remember, early detection and comprehensive care are key! 🩺💪 #ericvscancer #fightingcancerworldwide #cancerwarrior
