How are we doing compared to our peers?
This is one of the most frequent questions I hear from #organizations with which we partner. High quality #data can be hard to come by; #institutions may be reluctant to share their results for many reasons, yet leaders want to see everyone else's outcomes to assess opportunities for #growth, #improvement, and enhanced #effectiveness.
This new tool is being launched by two organizations you can trust - the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and Marts&Lundy - as we work to raise the bar for all. Teams I've led have been conscientious participants in these exercises, partly because I see it as a responsibility to be involved in the broader #advancement community, but also because we can all find insight and motivation from the accomplishments of others.
A #board member once asked me if #universities and #colleges are ever *not* in campaigns. It can certainly feel that way. At our firm, we've seen a shortening of time between campaigns across the #charitable sector, so smart leaders use those interregna wisely. It's easier to pause, #reflect and #learn without the din of public launches, #donor salons, and #campaign closing galas in the background.
If you're in the education sector and completed a campaign within the past five years, please consider contributing your data and learning from the resulting findings. Whether or not you are in a position to participate in this effort, find ways for your program to continually #innovate and #benchmark using CASE, AFP, AHP, NAIS, or your other networks.
#Fundraising campaigns produce needed resources for our organizations, but the experience of planning and running them can advance the sophistication and maturity of our advancement programs.
In this week's #FocusForwardWisdom, we share an important development in campaign benchmarking.
Marts&Lundy has partnered with CASE to establish CASE Insights on Campaigns, a repository of critical data-driven insights that will further our shared understanding of campaign best practices and evolving trends.
The CASE Insights on Campaigns survey will collect data comprising goals, staffing and fundraising results. The survey will also capture how events such as institutional leadership changes and socioeconomic factors affected campaign timelines and cadence.
If you are in the #education sector and your institution has completed a comprehensive campaign within the last five years, please take a few moments to submit a Survey Interest Form, and a CASE Insights team member will email you when the survey opens in September.

We are pleased to be CASE’s partner in this important project, and it is our hope that your institution will participate in this shared resource.
