Jon Bakkedahl, M.S., CEM, NVEM, MEP is the new Deputy Emergency Manager within Carson City Fire Department. Jon came to the city about 7 weeks ago from the Nevada Division of Emergency Management / Homeland Security (DEM). In his nearly seven years there, he has held three positions: Deputy Administrator, the Preparedness Manager responsible for overseeing the National Incident Management System (NIMS) preparedness efforts, and the State Training Officer supporting All-Hazard Emergency Management training programs statewide. He was one of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) Managers during numerous activations and exercises. Jon is a Certified Nevada Emergency Manager (NVEM) and an International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager (CEM). Jon is a graduate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) Program, FEMA Emergency Management Advanced Academy, the FEMA Emergency Management Basic Academy. Jon has a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and a Master of Science degree in Crisis and Emergency Management from UNLV. Jon has been a resident of Carson City with his wife and two children for nearly 24 years and has been active in the youth sports programs, trail riding, and other out door activities.
