A client told me he stops taking action when a goal is achieved. It's OK to take a little time off to celebrate accomplishments. It's required to stay energized and focused. I'm a big fan of celebrating achievements and accomplishments. However, if you spend too much time doing so, you may not get back on track quickly enough to maintain your positive energy. There is nothing like a good win to propel you to the next one. Stay on track with this Action Step: 1. How do you celebrate a win? 2. Name it. 3. Client: l don’t know what l want or what l want to talk about. Me: That’s okay, we can sit and work together with the unknown to bring it into the known. Client: l took some photos of me and l really like them. Me: That sounds like confidence. Client: Yes, l feel more confident. We never know what our clients will bring to their sessions. It’s not all about being alongside your client through their pain of the known and unknown. There are also moments of celebrating the wins that lay beyond that pain. This is why l do what l do 😊

Real talk: nothing can prepare you for the emotions that emerge when you write a farewell note to colleagues after spending 7.5 years with them. Not even 2+ months of lead-time from making the decision to step down to the last day. Writing that email and listing out the people in the "To:" line who truly made an impact in my life was the first wave of emotion. Then came the replies. Literally hundreds of them. And that's when my oldest saw me in tears, overwhelmed with appreciation. It may be cliche to thank a company after deciding to leave it, but having gotten to know so many colleagues in my first few months back in 2016, the people at Early Warning® quickly became my 'why' at work. Why I tried to bring my best. To deliver. With a smile. Every time. Or, as often as I could. From helping launch Zelle® in 2017 to most recently our work to launch Paze℠, and everything in between, it was an incredible run. Thank you, team. But with our growing family at home, I knew months ago that it was time to focus (for a short while) on my most important titles: husband and father. Looking ahead... after a number of incredible weeks coaching my 3-year-old and 5-year-old's tee ball teams, I will be able to share more on what's next. In the meantime, cheers.

My favorite thing about my role is that every day and every call is different. I learn something new every day. 💡What is the best advice you’ve ever received Accountability and responsibility are not the same, but they work together if you want to be successful — not only in your professional endeavors but also in your personal life. 👥 What does providing exceptional client support mean to you? Listening and hearing what the client is not saying. I attempt to understand and figure out what they ask of me, and resolve the issue during my call. 🕰️ What is your favorite quote? “Father time is the enemy none of us can beat.” My Madea would say random quotes and phrases, but now that I am wiser and more seasoned, I understand what she meant by it. 📱 What is one thing you can’t leave home without? I cannot leave home without my phone. I left my purse with my driver’s license and bank cards at home, but I had my phone. 😏 🎻 What is your hidden talent? I play the violin. 😂 What is your most used emoji? Depending on the day, my most used emoji is the laughing emoji. I am going to laugh because what’s the sense of crying? Lol!

Win! 🪩 - Advanced your prospect to the next stage of a sales cycle? Win! 🤝 - Renewed that long time at risk customer? Win! 🔥 - Began investing in your personal development? Win! 🙌 - Starting something new, even if you aren’t good at it (yet)? Win! 🥳 By celebrating the small things, it eventually leads to the big victories. What small (or large) wins will you start celebrating?!

"I got an order!" I raced out of the customer's office to my car. After starting as a delivery driver, moving to purchasing, and eventually to customer service with a local office supply company, I begged, cajoled, and finally convinced our branch manager to give me a shot as a sales rep. With my first order, I felt like an actual salesperson. I caught every green light on the 15-minute drive back to the office. Others in the office were sure to be excited for me. My manager's reaction short-circuited my elation. He scoffed at the dollar amount (roughly $100) and joked about my "big" win to others in the office. My disappointment crushed my enthusiasm. But only for a short time. I decided to celebrate the win on my own. Within a few days, I shook off the sting of the ridicule. And I got laser-focused on getting new customers. Celebrating your wins, even the ones others might dismiss, is critical. It allows you to maintain and build your confidence as you work towards another victory. If you're a manager, acknowledging your team's wins makes an extraordinary impact. It's crucial for newer reps in your organization who are still finding their footing. Remember, a little recognition goes a long way. And it encourages them to take the necessary steps toward another win.

How to keep going when things get tough? That year was not starting well for our team. The sales stalled and it seemed that whatever we tried, the results were the same. One day I was so struck by the long faces in the office, that I knew I had to act. These were brilliant people doing their absolute best. They deserved better. First thing the following morning I called everyone together. I dragged a flipchart to the centre of the room and divided the sheet into as many columns as there were teams, with five rows - one for every day of the week. I said, "Every day you do amazing things, every one of you. I want each team to put up a 'Post-It' note on this sheet by 5pm every day with their one win of the day - something that you nailed, something that you feel good about. Every morning we'll gather here to look at the notes and to award the Skylark of the Day to the team, whose win will be the most meaningful or the most hard-won. Whichever team collects the most skylarks in the week, gets the Skylark of the Week and I take them to lunch." The result was incredible! Not only we rediscovered pride in our work. Everyone learnt what everyone else was doing. We synched better as a wider team, and the success followed. All that it took was to ask everyone to share their small wins every single day, and to celebrate those wins together. #powerofsmallwins #progressprinciple

You are so right Olivia Lockwood! This post really struck a chord with me today! I was literally on stage during our Global InVision Sales Kick Off meeting 2 weeks ago and I made this statement... "enterprise selling is not about WHAT you're selling, it's about HOW you are selling". The most important thing you can do is to prioritize finding ways to establish trust and connection with your client first. I told my team... "sometimes we have to slow down, in order to speed up". What do I mean by this? I believe the best way to connect with a client is to become a student of their company, their business, their industry, the challenges they face, the opportunities they may have. When you take a little time to do your homework, and then you show up with a point of view, where you can be provocative in your ideas for challenging the status quo and rethinking approaches to common problems, they start to see you in a different light. You elevate your conversation and they see that you are starting from their point of view vs. the point of view of our solutions. This completely changes the dialogue, the engagement, and ultimately the outcome!

Absolutely!! Success is not a finite resource, it multiplies when shared. Celebrating the successes of those around us strengthens our relationships. It creates a positive and encouraging environment. A shared victory adds joy to the collective journey. This past weekend, I watched the Beckham documentary, and I couldn't help but reflect on the remarkable parallels between his journey and the road to success in sales. 🏆⚽👨👩👧👦 Dedication and Work Ethic There's no substitute for hard work. Beckham's relentless pursuit of perfection in freekicks serves as a powerful reminder. In sales, just as on the field, success comes to those who invest the hours, continually learn, grow, and, most importantly, earn the rewards of their dedication. Embracing Failure Throughout his career, Beckham confronted numerous setbacks and relentless criticism. Yet, he never allowed his emotions to cloud his professionalism and ultimately earned England captaincy. In sales, we too face challenging weeks, months, or quarters, but it's crucial to embrace failure as an inevitable part of the journey. It's not about whether you encounter it but how you handle it and grow from it that truly matters. Family Support Beckham's journey was not a solitary one. He leaned on the unwavering support of his family during times of immense pressure and criticism. As the saying goes, "A problem shared is a problem halved." In both our personal lives and sales careers, the backing of a strong family provides a solid foundation that empowers us to tackle challenges head-on.
