Reunited After 23 Years: A Story of Strength, Family, and village! This powerful story highlights the enduring strength of family bonds and the importance of individualized support in overcoming immense challenges. After 23 years of separation due to family incarceration, child welfare involvement, and various needs, I was finally reunited with my father. Overcoming Obstacles: The journey to reunification wasn't easy. We faced systemic hurdles, mental health needs, substance abuse, poverty, and generational trauma. Yet, with the unwavering support of family, friends, community, and cultural traditions, we showcased our strengths and persevered. Individualized Engagement is Key: Our story underscores the critical role of individualized engagement and culturally competent support in achieving positive outcomes. Unconditional care, respect for natural supports, and a focus on strengths proved to be essential ingredients for healing. They deserve safer, happier and healthier childhoods and more equal access to opportunities. All political leaders must now use their manifestos to set out plans to tackle child poverty, provide more support for young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and invest in children’s social care. We have a crucial opportunity to put children’s concerns and experiences at the centre of decision making – to bring children to the table. We look forward to working with political parties as they harness this opportunity. We also call on party leaders to take the groundbreaking step of closely involving children and young people in the televised leadership debates. Does a shell protect the crab or limit its growth? It takes courage to both step up and step out, but it was a great Saturday to join Heartware Network volunteers on a community project to understand the digitalisation journey and needs of heartland businesses. It is never easy to strut up to a stranger to start a meaningful and necessary conversation, and sometimes it can be disheartening when the doors are closed. Nevertheless, it is a crucial undertaking in our volunteer-driven heartland business digitalisation initiative, and it is a delight to witness the tenacity, determination and spirit for learning that the youth volunteers demonstrated. And to businesses who have struggled with growth, celebrate the spirit of these youths, and step out of the shell a little. #volunteering #businessgrowth #businessgrowthstrategy #businessstrategy
