This month, and every month, we work to uplift women and work to break down oppressive systems and barriers that get in the way of true equity. However, it is important to remember that we must look at uplifting women through an intersectional lens. This means that we recognize that we all have unique identities that impact our experiences with privilege and discrimination. In the past, we have seen pushes for “equality” that really only stand to benefit cisgender straight white women. We need to continue to fight for policies and ideals that benefit ALL women, including women of color, indigenous women, Black women, trans women, women of all religions, women of all socioeconomic statuses, etc. Our liberation is connected, and solidarity is our strength! #WomensHistoryMonth #SupportAllWomen #SupportAllSurvivors #IntersectionalFeminism #Intersectionality

#Spotlight on Tarana J. Burke who has worked for more than 3 decades at the intersection of #racial justice, arts and culture, #anti-violence and gender equity. In the heart of every religious community lies the potential for profound transformation. By empowering women to claim their rightful place within the priesthood, we are sowing the seeds of a more inclusive and compassionate Church. For centuries, the roles within religious institutions have been deeply entrenched in tradition, often sidelining the immense wisdom, compassion, and leadership that women inherently possess. However, embracing the rightful inclusion of women in the priesthood heralds a new era—one where the Church becomes a sanctuary of equality and understanding. When women are granted the opportunity to serve as priests, the Church benefits from a diversity of perspectives and experiences. Their unique insights nurture empathy and broaden the Church's understanding of the multifaceted tapestry of human existence. By inviting women to officiate in sacred rituals, we acknowledge their spiritual authority and acknowledge the divine in its entirety, unbounded by gender. Empowering women within the priesthood isn't just about gender equality; it's about enriching the very fabric of our faith. Women bring a nurturing spirit, a fierce dedication to community, and an innate ability to empathize and heal. When these qualities are embraced within the Church, it fosters an environment of deep compassion, understanding, and acceptance. As we break down the barriers that have long kept women from their rightful roles, we pave the way for a Church that truly reflects the teachings of love, equality, and acceptance. The blossoming of this inclusive Church is not just a dream; it's a tangible reality waiting to unfurl. Her powerful words (not just in this context) left me speechless - for once. It keeps happening. We applaud organizations for their “fake diversity measures” without considering the “real life” experiences of the women who work (and subsequently leave) at these places. We want more. We demand more. We will continue to call out gender discrimination. We will continue to call out racial bias. Happy International Women's Day! On this day we remember all the Black women who gave their lives in the name of our struggles for freedom and equality. We acknowledge that our struggles continue, so we give thanks to all those that continue to advocate for freedom, rights and equity for Black women everywhere. International Women's Day 2024 is themed #inspiringinclusion. To be inclusive of Black women is to recognise that the narrative that defines us is is not our own. It is unjust, and is a major factor is the bedrock of the discrimination that perpetuates suffering, pain and anquish to us individually and collectively.
