As usual, the latest NDIS quarterly report follows a well-worn, uninspiring template. It continues to celebrate underwhelming figures e.g. 41% of participants aged 15 and over report increased participation in community and social activities. Really? I would have a thought a figure of between 85% and 95% would be noteworthy, but 41% is a gross fail. What I'd like to know is, why have the 59% of participants not reported an increase, and what can we do to support that majority to be better able to participate in community? Similarly, we are told that 77% of participants over the age of 15 have greater choice and control in their lives. I can't fathom why anyone in NDIA would be happy with that number, and why they wouldn't be taking urgent action to address this fail e.g. "We at NDIA are currently in the process of engaging individually with 100,000 NDIS participants who tell us that NDIS has not led to greater choice and control, to find out how they can be supported to exercise greater choice and control."

๐ธ Hey NDIS community! Let's talk about the power of choice and control within the NDIS and why it's absolutely crucial for participants. ๐ช Choice and control aren't just buzzwordsโthey're fundamental principles that empower individuals to shape their own lives and futures. ๐ Within the NDIS, choice and control mean having the freedom to make decisions about the supports and services that best suit the participants needs and goals. It's about putting the power back in the hands of our participants! โจ Why is this so important? Because when participants have the autonomy to choose what works best for them, they can live more independently, pursue their passions, and lead fulfilling lives on their own terms. ๐ Whether it's selecting service providers, setting goals, or managing budgets, choice and control pave the way for greater flexibility, creativity, and self-determination. ๐ So let's celebrate the incredible potential of choice and control within the NDIS! Together, let's continue advocating for and supporting every participant's right to shape their own path and thrive! ๐ซ #ChoiceAndControl #NDIS #Empowerment
