The July Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) report was recently released with updates to the Medicaid/CHIP re-enrollment process.   Things to note in this report: • Since the June report, Child Medicaid/CHIP enrollment has decreased less than 1% (-.09%) • Since the unwinding process began it is -2.7% • Cumulative since Pre-COVID (Feb 20-July 23) still +20.3%   My thoughts are that we will probably see the greatest drop in the next two reports (Aug-Sept). This week the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the June 2023 stats of Medicaid enrollment. In my space these are interesting stats to follow as the unwinding process is underway. There aren't many reports that breakout the impacts of adult Medicaid vs Children's Medicaid and CHIP, and this one dives into it a bit. Facts from this article: -Pre-pandemic (Feb 2020) to beginning of unwinding process (March 2023) there was a 20% increase to enrollment of children in Medicaid and CHIP -Since the beginning of the unwinding (March 2023) until this most recent report (June 2023) there has been a 1.8% decrease. I will be curious to see how the Aug_Sept reports look with all the systematic issues that happened at the state level, impacting children's enrollment.

  Important news! The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a State Medicaid Director Letter which introduces the Medicaid Transportation Coverage Guide, https://lnkd.in/gVJ65aBV. This guidance serves as a consolidated and comprehensive compilation of Medicaid transportation policy, providing a one-stop transportation resource for states on federal requirements and state flexibilities. The Guide highlights existing policies and includes new policies to address scenarios for extended wait times and long-distance trips, and scenarios where non-Medicaid eligible parents, family members, or other caregivers may require transportation to participate in a Medicaid eligible child’s care. Medicaid transportation is a critical service that assists beneficiaries with accessing Medicaid services and has a direct impact on health outcomes. CMS encourages states to use this guide as an aid when developing and updating appropriate policies and procedures that facilitate robust transportation programs.

In the context of #homecare, a partnership between MCOs and state Medicaid programs has profound implications. MCOs essentially act as the admins of Medicaid benefits, working closely with homecare agencies to ensure Medicaid beneficiaries receive the assistance they need. Through these collaborations, they establish networks of homecare providers, vetting agencies to guarantee they meet specific quality standards. This process ensures that members receive high-quality, personalized care tailored to their unique needs.
