📣 We are excited to launch our new series: Tech in Action. In each article, we interview the business leaders shaping the future of climate tech to ask: 🌎 How is their tech advancing climate action? 💡 And how do these cutting-edge innovations really work? We can think of no better way to start Tech in Action than speaking Marco Albani, the CEO and co-founder of Chloris Geospatial. Established in 2021, the company is operating at the intersection of space-tech and nature-tech. Using advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence and sensor-fusion, the team at Chloris Geospatial can directly measure changes in the above-ground biomass of vegetation on earth…from space. Speaking of the companies mission, Marco said: “Our logic at Chloris Geospatial is that if business leaders can access high integrity accounting on natural capital, they need no longer question the carbon calculations on which their investments are based. Equipped with reliable, trust-worthy data, they are free to focus on taking effective action for climate and nature.” To hear more from Marco, make sure to read the first instalment of Tech in Action: https://lnkd.in/eUKkmNd6 We would like to thank Marco, Elisa Casavecchia and Florian Reber for joining Tech in Action and sharing the story of Chloris Geospatial with Respira. #TechInAction #Biomass #Carbon

In case you missed this interesting discussion last month. Rewatch the FarmTech Society panel on CEA Synergies featuring Hamza Qadoumi 🚀 🌱 #CEA leverages precision control of environmental factors to optimize crop growth in enclosed spaces, enabling year-round production. #SpaceTech provides valuable insights into creating ecosystems in the conditions of outer space, where resources are scarce. The lessons learned from designing support systems for astronauts, such as efficient resource utilization and waste recycling, are directly applicable to enhancing sustainability in CEA. Innovations like grow lights developed for crop growth in space have improved energy efficiency and crop yields. By collaborating and cross-pollinating ideas, #IndoorFarming and space tech empower each other to push the boundaries of sustainable agriculture, offering solutions for both Earth's growing population and future space exploration endeavors that rely on self-sustaining food production to support longer journeys. https://lnkd.in/gj_ccsJV

Scientists and Technologists from PML Applications and PML were among the expert contributors to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ocean's inquiry on the 'Future of ocean technology'. Their advice and recommendations have been featured throughout the report, which was launched last week during a roundtable in parliament. PML Applications’ Head of the Centre for Coastal Technologies Tim Fileman said: “Areas such as marine autonomy, advanced sensors, and the application of AI are rapidly evolving and becoming increasingly important across a range of sectors ranging from science to shipping, fisheries to defence. Furthermore, recent years have seen significant innovation and increased investment in ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (oCDR) and the associated regulation, verification and technological processes. There is huge potential within all of these areas but their development must be underpinned with rigorous data and scientific understanding.” Read the report summary findings or access the full report here: https://bit.ly/3SxsGlm #technology #marinetechnology #marinetech #marineconservation #marinebiology #technologynews #technologysolutions #technologyinnovation #TechnologyforGood #TechForGood #Tech4Good #marineautomation #MarineAutonomy #marineresearch #climatechange #biodiversity

This is the latest video created by Science Crunchers for the #GES4SEAS project! Achieving a healthy ocean with good environmental status encompasses a lot of factors, making it as challenging and complex as solving a Rubik's cube. To overcome this, GES4SEAS will develop a toolbox to assess and predict the impacts of stressors on the marine environment, to ultimately help ocean managers. Let's put our minds and energy into solving the Ocean Cube! 🌊🌎🐟

🆂🅸🅻🆅🅴🆁 🅱🆄🅻🅻🅴🆃 noun : something that acts as a magical weapon 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 : one that instantly solves a long-standing problem Have you ever heard a repair technician say "𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝙁𝙀𝙒𝙀𝙍 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘭𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘣" ? Sensors on satellites, aircraft, drones, on the ground - and yes, regulations - are all necessary tools to get to where we need to be on #methane #emissions. None of these tools ever claimed to be the "one and only"; it always was, and will continue to be, all hands on deck working together with industry to help solve this methane challenge. Our model at GHGSAT is simple - we work together with operators - and governments - as a partner to help them better understand the situation and take action. The model works, directly driving close to 15 Mt of CO2e in verifiable methane reduction with our satellites to date. More importantly, the model is highly scalable and drives greater engagement. Let's all work together on this - different models, different tools, while also accelerating the transition. The challenge is too great to be tilting at windmills. for more information on how a toolbox as full as possible generates real results, check out this report: 👉 https://lnkd.in/gkdvZGSD #COP29 #Timeforaction https://lnkd.in/gmhgpvVm
