Women are underrepresented. Despite the greater awareness around the need and importance of innovation in and for women’s health, there are still many areas that, undoubtedly, remain a taboo with a massive data gap. For example, did you know that, to this day, women are diagnosed on average four years later than men across 770+ diseases? Or that women are still more likely to die from a heart attack or react poorly to prescription drugs, and are consistently having their pain dismissed by doctors because their bodies are still a medical mystery. A study showed that 90% of women with chronic pain, felt the healthcare system has a gender bias. Women of Wearables (wearables, health tech & femtech) has put together a list of leaders in Women’s Health and #FemTech space who have been working hard in 2022 in improving the health and lives of so many with their innovative solutions and products. Congrats to all the nominees and I am very happy to see Polish representation: Emanuela Kufel representing Prosoma and Eva Galant, founder of Hashiona. #womenhealth https://lnkd.in/gzwYiizf

💃🏽Dr. Lisa | Looking to revitalize women who lead w/ love and help them co create with men.Tools support leadership, relationships and enterprise design. Reframing The Curvy Hustle ® where science and spirit mix.
A part of my identity will always be The Belly Guru, my first quest into both personal and enterprise minded branding because I used that #entrepreneurship to heal the traumas I was never told to expect becoming a modern day mother. I focused for the first 10 years on the actual treatments and coaching process of pregnancy. My staff and affiliates never aligned with the gift of a pregnancy being managed like an illness especially with the fact trained surgeons were not lowering maternal health risks and complaining about their profits. Finally, in 2016, I decided to start focusing on better thought leaders becoming the voices for a shift of that company which eventually sparked Mind Body Enterprises as a consultancy with training opportunities. Femtech is going to decentralize women’s health and I hope I can inspire and guide enough of my healthpro peers to move into thought leadership and tech development to be the education behind it. The complete irony of maternal health here in America is that they will act like you need an MD degree to develop a baby in healthcare, will want you to behave as if not forming and entire other human inside you in corporate and you are left in your personal life to try to figure out how the hell you make a living, possibly still navigate a career you loved and not lose a life or relationships in the process. All at the same time as a total whirlwind of transformational change and often hidden strains are part of the normal and traumas like miscarriage or infidelity expenses are all around you too! Never mind everyone then drops the ball on the post partum recovery and actual child bonding needs to reconstruct the evolving family which sets up our health, social relations and economic leadership for the future. They don’t love on you again until you become a market at about 40 for menopause symptoms which most only suffer through because they needed a healthier hustle to midlife! So yeah, women in tech making things better for women’s health matters. There is deep inequities being ignored that go beyond access. There is not a woman’s ability to even use a million dollar salary and title as CEO or even exposure of having been on the cover of Forbes as a sensation to get properly and timely diagnosed. Then, if finally heard and seen and approached as per the female physiological presentations of disease, there is a very high chance she will be still be mistreated and labored on recovery because of intersystemic bias. “For instance, it is surprising that even today, women are diagnosed, on average, four years later than men across more than 770 diseases. 🫀🧠🦵🏼 Moreover, women are still more susceptible to fatal heart attacks, adverse reactions to prescription drugs, and routine dismissal of their pain by doctors due to the medical mystery surrounding their bodies. A study indicates that 90% of women with chronic pain believe the healthcare system exhibits gender bias.” 🤦♂️🤦🏽♀️

On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the exceptional women who are driving the future of technology! 🌷 On this occasion, we would like to spotlight the innovative sector of FemTech, a term coined by Ida Tin, CEO of Clue, in 2016. 💡 FemTech refers to products and services designed to support women’s health, address the gender health gap, and provide genuine health benefits to women. Examples? There you go! 👉 DotEndo is a non-invasive blood test for the diagnosis of active endometriosis. The key functionality of DotEndo is its ability to measure biomarkers in the blood that provide a unique signature to identify active endometriosis at all stages of the disease, independent of hormones, cycles or symptoms. 👉 NextGen Jane is a company that helps women manage their fertility through data derived from menstrual blood. The key functionality is their patented collection kit that allows users to send in their tampons for analysis, providing genomic insights that can impact women's health. FemTech industry is revolutionizing how women receive healthcare services. It offers diverse innovative solutions, from AI-driven tracking apps to smart wearable devices. These technologies aim to improve women’s health and empower them with knowledge and control over their bodies. 🤸 Here are some interesting statistics about the FemTech industry: 👉 The FemTech market is expected to reach over $12.8 billion by 2028. 👉 In 2024 alone, FemTech is estimated to generate $1.1 billion in global revenue. 👉 Over the past decade, there has been a remarkable 1300% increase in the number of femtech companies. FemTech's rapid growth reshapes healthcare, breaks taboos, and addresses women's unique needs. On International Women's Day, we recognize FemTech's role in fostering a more inclusive, supportive environment for women globally. Their invaluable contributions promote a healthier, more equitable future. We celebrate them today and always. Happy Women's Day! 🌸🥂

Executive R&D Leader Specialized in the Medical Device Industry | Passionate about building high performing teams that deliver valued solutions.
Have you heard of "Femtech"? This emerging term refers to technology designed to address women's health needs. A recent article I came across provided a brief history on how the term was coined. However, what really caught my attention was how the Femtech space remains underfunded and underserved. Even more concerning is the gender bias surrounding certain diseases or conditions that predominantly affect a specific gender. Check out the article to learn more about the evolution of Femtech and the need for greater investment in this important area.
