Interesting post about the age of scientists during their more impactful discoveries. Is the fact that this age is increasing really because "scientists simply have a lot more to learn now than before" to get into the field, or has how we conduct science and think about data become more rigid? Also, see this paper on the decreasing potential for disruptive science. Perhaps the moral of the story is to not be afraid to explore beyond your science/expertise. https://lnkd.in/gJcGbGxD https://lnkd.in/gRXKf7Xv

📢 It is a fruitful year for our research group with the promotion of a second doctor! 🎓 Last Tuesday, Kurt Coppens publicly defended his doctoral dissertation titled ‘The Entanglement of Feedback Literacy and Reflection: A Longitudinal Study in Engineering Education’, earning the degree of Doctor of Engineering Technology. Kurt’s research provides valuable insights into the development of feedback literacy among engineering students, encompassing a longitudinal study and employing a combination of quantitative and qualitative research instruments, including reflective logs. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to his (co-)supervisors Greet Langie, Naomi Winstone, and Lynn Van den Broeck, as well as to the distinguished members of his examination committee: Emmanuel Vander Poorten, Vero Vanden Abeele, Tinne De Laet, Veerle Doornaert, Wim Dewulf, and Walter Daems. 🎉 Please join us in congratulating Dr. Coppens on this accomplishment! 👏 #PhD #Doctorate #EngineeringTechnology #FeedbackLiteracy #Reflection #Research #HigherEducation
