As summer days get hotter across the country, it is important that people of all backgrounds have equal access to ways to keep cool. There is clear data that public pool access is a matter of equity and socioeconomics. New aquatics facilities were are designing in partnership with and for the City of Baltimore will help curb that reality as they serve as safe havens for community members to cool off during our hottest days. We are proud to share that s/b, the official publication of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) recently profiled the equitable aquatics ecosystem we have designed for the people of Baltimore. What It's Like Living in Ravenna? Ravenna is a quiet neighborhood in northeast Seattle and one of Seattle’s most desirable neighborhoods. This area is filled with cozy tudors and bungalows with good schools, beautiful parks, and athletic fields, making it one of the best neighborhoods to live in Seattle. The streets are quiet and tree-lined, making this a dreamy little pocket of Seattle living. This neighborhood has also earned itself a reputation as a beautiful community to call home. Most of its residents are young families, students, and professors from the University of Washington. Pros: Big parks, sports fields and recreational facilities; Cons: Lack of active nightlife. #Ravenna #RavennaSeattle #Seattle

Founder & Owner of Mass Mills I & II LLP and liv3lov3l1ght LLC: Pioneering Community-Centric Real Estate & Promoting Well-Being Through New Age Spiritual Practices
🚨 Urgent Attention Needed: Black Mold Crisis at Mass Mills Complex in Lowell 🚨 We must shed light on the critical issue of black mold negligence by Corcoran Management at Mass Mills Complex in Lowell. The safety and well-being of tenants are being gravely compromised. Last summer, the impact was deeply personal. Individuals faced severe health problems, with cases of hospitalization due to low white cell counts. I've even endured psychiatric distress, trying to understand what was happening. Instead of addressing the problem, Corcoran Management has resorted to intimidation tactics, such as no trespassing orders on their leasing office. This isn't merely a housing issue; it's a public health crisis. The community deserves transparency, accountability, and immediate action from Corcoran Management. Join us in demanding better living conditions, share this post, and let's ensure that no one else falls victim to this negligence. #Accountability #MassMillsMoldCrisis #CorcoranManagement #HealthAndSafety #TenantsRights #MoralLeadership #IntegrityMatters #HonestyIsPolicy #TransparencyForTrust #TruthPrevails #EthicalLiving #UpholdingValues #AccountabilityCounts #TruthfulTransparency #HonorAndIntegrity #MoralCompass #StandForTruth #EthicalStandards #TransparentLeadership #SincereHonesty Prove me wrong.

Interesting! The Great Saunter event, a 32-mile grand loop walk around the edges Manhattan. Increasingly, with the completion of pathways encircling the island, this kind of trek can become more broadly enabled. (In her piece, "Great Saunter Tips from Decades of Walking Around Manhattan" Sarah Milstein mentions that more segments of established pathways around the edges are falling into place.) Terrific to see the proliferation of these kinds of events, and, in the process, communities building this kind of walking green infrastructure! https://lnkd.in/gpE-C9F5

This post is part of a series of posts where I will share one thing I’ve done in hopes that this one thing will help you see your power in dismantling w hite supremacy and how you can do something, big or small, too. This summer we have been going to the pool almost every day. As members, we can go whenever we want, even if it’s just for an hour. It’s not cheap to be members, though. And each time I go, I’m reminded that there was a time when pools were free. This article was posted over the weekend which addresses pools, segregation, and privatization: https://lnkd.in/g68yeaQA “A legacy of segregation, the privatization of pools, and starved public recreation budgets have led to the decline of public places to swim in many cities The retreat of government and privatization of swimming pools and recreation has hurt poor and minority groups hardest, historians and public recreation experts say. “Poor and working-class Americans suffered most directly from the privatizing of swimming pools,” writes Jeff Wiltse, a historian at University of Montana, in “Contested Waters: A Social History of Swimming Pools in America.” Today, 79% of children in families with household incomes less than $50,000 have no or low swimming ability, according to a 2018 study. 64% of Black children, 45% percent of Hispanic children and 40% of White children have no or low swimming ability, the study found. The development of private, gated communities and homeowners associations in the suburbs also led to the privatization of recreation. Towns formed their own tax bases and local governments with their own services and amenities.” I learned about segregation and swimming pools back in 2020 when I read The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.
