I've been dreaming of this day for years!! It is TIME we have some science behind post harvest. This will be a big year for Cannabis Research Coalition and The Network of Applied Pharmacognosy as we join forces to understand what makes a good smoke? And not just what... but why? The focus here will be on pre-rolls. Water content? Elements in excess? Carbohydrate change (this was the most difficult to find a partner who would test on cannabis)? Particle size? Tightness of packing? Etc. What would you test for to understand what makes for a "better" smoke?
A new research partnership looks into how cannabis flower’s moisture content impacts its lightability, ash color, smoothness and other qualities. In other words, how smokeable is any given preroll? Check out the latest from Riley D. Kirk, PhD, Allison Justice, PhD. and Miyabe Shields, PhD and the partnership between the Cannabis Research Coalition and The Network of Applied Pharmacognosy.

Really looking forward to this study, these highly important details! For those who have a penchant for smoking cannabis these factors ( flower moisture, ash colour, and nutrient levels) contribute to the experience and medical properties

LINKEDIN FOLLOWERS! Be sure to register for this symposium being offered by Analytical Cannabis on September 13th. I will be one of the speakers and will be giving a presentation titled - Accuracy vs Efficiency: Streamlining Your Potency Processes. Our laboratory recently evaluated efficiency and accuracy in various potency prep processes to have a better understanding of how these procedures impact the final results. As a result of this investigation, we are now able provide insight to laboratories about how to ensure they are producing the most accurate data possible. At the end of the day, efficiency should never be more important than accuracy and laboratories should always choose the option that will provide the most accurate data! #accuracy #providingrealnumbers #accuratedata #goodscience #potencytesting #potencyprep

📢 We are pleased to welcome our newest network partner, the Cannabis Research Coalition (CRC)! CRC partners with academia and cannabis-industry stakeholders to advance the exploration of the cannabis plant and implement science-based research to develop the cultivation techniques required to create a sustainable, efficient, and profitable industry. Their approach is to combine the resources of stakeholders—individuals and businesses—to fund academic research that provides practical answers to the questions that limit our success as an industry. The cooperative research model, whereby members benefit from the pooled resources of an entire group, has driven horticulture and greenhouse research for decades. By partnering with colleagues, collaborators, and sometimes competitors, you can stay at the forefront of production know-how. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between higher education and the cannabis industry, working together to create upskilling certificates and micro-credentials that address the challenges, best practices, and educational needs of the multi-billion-dollar American cannabis industry. CRC is excited to work with the leadership and faculty of our higher education partnership network and we look forward to creating many great collaborations between the two! Welcome CRC! #highereducation #workforceeduation #cannabiseducation #CRC #cannabisindustry #cannabisscience #industrypartner #upskilling #continuingeducation

Really interesting report from SwedenBIO about the current status of the Swedish life science industry. Excellent job Maja Neiman and the team involved in preparing this! Just to highlight some of the stats - out of approximately 4000 registered life science companies in Sweden, more than half are based in the Stockholm/Uppsala region, showing its significance as a thriving hub for life science. It's also encouraging to see that of the 200 companies that responded to the barometer survey in 2023, about 50% were planning to increase investment in R&D and new product innovation as well as advertising and brand building over the next few years, and about 10% identified legal issues as a key focus in 2023/2024. I'm curious to see how these stats compare to other major commercial areas in Sweden. You can find the report below. #lifescienceindustry #pharma #biotech #sweden
