Understanding people with their different personalities has been a great asset in my life. As my sister and mentor, Fatma Masmoudi, excells in it, she recommended the famous book "Surrounded by Idiots" to me, aiming to expand my knowledge and master the art of social interactions in both my personal and professional lives. The book comprises several sections: 1. How to recognize and respond to each color type through written communication and body language. 2. How to adapt to people who are not like you. 3. How to manage collaboration and group dynamics involving different colors. 4. Understand what angers or stresses out each color type, and how to address it effectively. Here are some insightful quotes from the book: • The individuals who surround you are not idiots at all; instead, they are individuals worthy of respect, understanding, and being valued. • Communication happens on the listener’s terms... Everything you say to a person is filtered through their frames of reference, biases, and preconceived ideas. • Behavior patterns are like a toolbox. All types are needed. • No group should be composed solely of individuals of the same type. Diversity is the only possible route. The best way to put a group of people together is by mixing different types of individuals. • Some people become angry because of stress, while others become stressed because of anger. • Communication is often a matter of adapting to others. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to unlock the keys to understanding different profiles and ensure a healthy workflow within the team. #networking #selfawareness #selfdevelopment #healthyworkculture #healthymindset

Creating clear, relevant learning programs and materials that help my colleagues succeed in their roles.
I'm grateful to Jody Bruner. Jody is the President of Wavelength Training, a fantastic training firm that helps business professionals become better communicators. Jody was my leader for almost seven years, and I could thank her for so many things: her mentorship, encouragement, trust, love of language…the list goes on. For this post, however, I want to highlight one moment in particular: when she pointed out an unconscious speaking habit of mine. One day, I popped my head into Jody's office with a suggestion. The exact topic is lost to time, but I remember positioning my suggestion as, "I just thought that maybe this could be a good option..." After Jody acknowledged my idea, she shared a keen observation about the words I used: "You seem to use the word 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 a lot." She went on to point out how I seemed to use the word 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 as a protective communication strategy. This little word would sneak into my speech when I was feeling unsure of myself. She explained that this little word could actually have a BIG impact on my credibility and personal brand. Depending on the situation, my listeners might perceive this speaking habit as submissive, passive-aggressive, or even manipulative. 😬 Jody suggested I practice mindfulness when I spoke so that I could recognize my speaking habits, and adjust them if I wanted to. 💡 I carry this lesson with me. She wasn't trying to censor me or suggest that I change who I was. She made me realize how powerful my words can be. I think of this conversation every time I have to present to a business partner, write an email to a SME, or communicate my needs with my leaders. Thank you Jody, for teaching me how to sound like the person want to present to the world: a concise and confident woman. 💜 #Communication #PublicSpeaking #Habits #Gratitiude
