Great as always to speak to Executive Director of Research and Innovation at Cancer Research UK, Iain Foulkes, for the latest episode of The Appraisal. We chat about how researchers are rewarded and incentivised, and why this needs to change if the UK is to become a life science superpower. It comes off the back of our freshly launched Manifesto for Cancer Research and Care which sets out the measures and commitments the next government can make to help prevent 20,000 cancer deaths every year by 2040. https://lnkd.in/emi6AkzF

Made the trip down to National Cancer Centre Singapore earlier today for an enlightening sharing by Prof. Fan Rong (Yale University) and co-hosted by Singleron APAC! Interesting takeaway - Although Th1 T cells are considered to be the main player for #CAR-T cancer #immunotherapy, the underappreciated Th2 T cells turn out to be indispensable for long-term efficacy and preventing relapse. Today's problems are often multidisciplinary in nature. Solving them will require us to be like the T cells - coming together with our diverse expertise and skillsets to create new solutions. As we deal with the challenges of today, let's remember not just to go at it alone, but also leverage each others talents for a better tomorrow.

Head of Clinical Research, Institute for Health Research and Innovation KSM- Maccabi Healthcare Services
״Early is still too late” These words are the most important ones to comprehend when we speak about pancreatic cancer. With survival rates of around 10% one year from the diagnosis there is no doubt that new approaches of early detection needs to be developed. I had the honor to participate in the PANCAID 2nd general assembly meeting that was held in Madrid. During the interesting gathering we continued to discuss and show case our joint collabrative efforts to utilize liquid biopsy and AI driven tools for the early detection of pancreatic cancer.
