We are getting in the Olympic spirit for our 2024 Wellness Challenge! Throughout the month of July we are encouraging our employees to track their physical activity as we collectively carry the torch from Greece to Paris. Each participant can view a map tracking progress as anything they do is converted into steps. They'll also have a chance to win virtual medals for averaging 6000, 8000, and 10,000 steps per day in addition to some great prizes! We are looking forward to seeing the torch move and watching our teams get active throughout the month!

A great day with ukactive and with colleagues across the active wellbeing sector. First with a focus on how we collaborate to deliver the outcomes of a Decade of Change for Public Sector Leisure. Some great discussion reflecting on the establishment of the National Physical Activity Taskforce, navigating financial pressures in the public sector, and ensuring we are clear in what the public sector leisure can deliver to meet local community needs. This is where Places Leisure is in a unique position as part of Places for People to understand the needs of our communities from a ground level perspective. In doing so, we can develop interventions which can directly improve the life opportunities of those who would benefit most from being more active. Then onto the Strategic Partner Event, at which the topic of discussion was the decarbonisation of the sector. With ukactive signing up to be part of the Green Sports Hub Europe, the network and knowledge is growing to ensure we can work with our local authority partners to continue on our journey towards net zero.

An educator interested in AI in education, positive psychology and professional teacher development | Training | Coaching for self-improvement | Learning and Development
Key Thinking Questions I used to deepen my students' learning: - Does this event really help? - Is the event doing more harm than good? - Discuss the pros and cons of such an event. - What questions or concerns do you still have after watching the video? 🤔 Synopsis: The A-Fest event organized by MindValley, spearheaded by Vishen Lakhiani, certainly seems to be an exclusive and high-profile gathering targeting affluent individuals seeking personal and professional growth. It's marketed as an opportunity to bring about significant life changes and is positioned in the realm of alternative wellness, with a focus on the fusion of spiritual and business success. MindValley's progression from selling meditation CDs to becoming a $40 million company with a dedicated global following speaks to the success and impact of their offerings in this niche. The fact that A-Fest is an invite-only festival adds an air of exclusivity, catering to a specific audience of millionaires and aspiring millionaires who are willing to invest considerable sums of money for a potentially life-changing experience. It's important to approach events like A-Fest with a critical eye, especially given the significant financial investment involved. While personal development and self-improvement are undoubtedly valuable pursuits, the notion that they can be achieved through an expensive, invite-only festival might be subject to scrutiny. As for the VICE journalist Sydney Lima, her attendance with a gifted ticket presents an opportunity to offer an independent and unbiased perspective on the event. This could provide a balanced view of the experiences and outcomes of those attending, shedding light on the potential benefits and drawbacks of such exclusive gatherings. In conclusion, events like A-Fest organized by MindValley have gained popularity by tapping into the aspirations of individuals seeking personal and professional growth. However, it's essential for both participants and observers to critically assess the promises made and the potential impact of such gatherings on individuals and their well-being. As with any self-improvement initiative, it's essential to approach it with a discerning mind and an awareness of the underlying motivations and marketing strategies at play. #education #teachers #educators #lessons #teacherlife

Managing Director @Team Activity Group | Delivering team events that motivate, inspire and re-energise your teams. Live, virtual & hybrid events.
The power of sport! A bit of healthy competition always goes down very well at the events we plan but there's more to a successful event than winning the trophy! - Moderate exercise 3 times per week reduces the risk of depression by 20% - A sedentary lifestyle is one of the main causes of death in developed countries - 85% of adults don’t get the recommended amount of exercise Considering we spend 9 years of our lives at work, and for most of us that’s sitting on a chair, doesn’t it seem the obvious thing for organisations to incorporate some kind of physical activity programme into their workplace? Research shows that physical activity in the workplace = reduced stress levels, increased morale, enhanced productivity. We organise team sporting events - get in touch to book one 🙂 ⛹️

Empowering Senior Corporate Women and Working Mothers towards Hybrid Retirement | High Net Worth Advisor | Mother of Two |
Last week I caught up with Genevieve Chua Senior Accredited Board Director, an amazing lady who's deeply passionate about health and wellness. Besides managing her full time role as a CEO, she is also an active board member with RSVP Singapore The Organisation of Senior Volunteers championing the Age Well Everyday program for seniors. Her boundless energy and zest for life left me feeling super inspired! 🌟 Here are my key takeaways from our conversation 1️⃣ 𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒏, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒏 People are living longer but not necessarily in good health especially during the final years. The average life span in Singapore is about 84 while the average health span is 74. As we age, it's important to focus on strength training and balance to maintain our muscle strength and mobility. Genevieve shared how she designed science-based exercises (as a qualified fitness trainer!) for her senior volunteers, emphasizing on resistance and weights training and also encouraged me to start weights training at home. Not only did she recommend me useful exercises to build my upper and lower body strength, she took the effort to send me a summary of the exercises and even check in with me on my progress 🥰 I'm truly touched by her thoughtful gesture and thank you Gen for holding me accountable! Definitely commited to continuing my exercises and building up my strength this year 💪 2️⃣ 𝑬𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆 It's ok to take breaks. Intentionally creating gaps in our schedules instead of packing it with back to back meetings creates space to be present and mindful. 3️⃣ 𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 Starting the day with intention with manifestation exercise and ABC rituals fosters a positive mindset and sets the tone for an empowered day. Affirmations Blessings Compassion 4️⃣ 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒚 𝒀𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑶𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 When we commit to doing good, the universe aligns to bring the right opportunities, resources, and people into our lives. Saying yes to opportunities like board directorships and volunteering can lead to incredible experiences, just like how it did for Genevieve. Let's strive for healthy mind and body routines that empower us to thrive and age well! 🌱 #Activeaging #wellbeing #inspiringwomen
