Did you know that the short-circuit current is dependent on generating capacity, voltage, and total reactance in the system? In medium and high voltage installations, the only way to limit short-circuit current at the same voltage level is by increasing the inductive reactance seen at the fault location. Remember, short circuit currents can be reduced by an increase in the reactance of the system

What are the dangers of voltage fluctuations? If the voltage fluctuation (increase or decrease) exceeds the allowable range, it will cause the electrical equipment to operate under high or low voltage conditions, which is neither economical nor safe.
