On this heaviest of travel weekends, this report (link in comments) from CBRE is especially prescient. “Loyalty programs are becoming less dominated by frequent travelers. Heavy users (30+ nights a year) comprise a declining share of total membership as loyalty points become more tied to credit cards and affiliate programs and less directly with travel frequency.” People love rewards programs, but they also seem to like greater choice in where they spend those points. Intuitively, this makes a lot of sense and may be one of many reasons Camber Creek portfolio company Bilt Rewards (not mentioned in the report) is so popular. #travel #rewards #proptech #fintech #loyalty

It makes sense that as benefits have been reduced at the top levels of loyalty programs, those at the highest levels wonder why it’s worth it. Those folks then move on to other brands and the reduction of benefits cycle continues…
