💛 In 2020 I added 'work in Games industry' to my to-do list.
💛In 2021 I wrote 'work in Video Games' in my notebook on how to diversify my career in games further gaining more experience and adding value in the industry.
💛In 2024 as I continue to build worlds for people to connect, enjoy & play in, I began building my own personal life & career strategy (yes, I'm very organised despite feeling like a spider on roller-skates most of the time)
It let me ask myself deep questions and find ways to live authentically to my core values, while continuing to enjoy my career but also, to assess how I could begin really making a difference and delivering meaningful impact on the world (mostly I wanted it to be authentic, it might not impact me immediately, or ever, maybe it would in the future too, but it would definitely make the world a better place for others, it should support improvements to livelihoods, people and the economy.)
Enter Apprentice Decent Wage Pledge.
A collective of employers, intermediaries and apprenticeship training providers who believe we should be backing the UK’s future talent pipeline by not paying apprentice minimum wages, but by providing decent and fair pay for all apprentices employed in the UK. We are committed to addressing social mobility issues by ensuring individuals are not put off applying for apprenticeships because pay is too low. ✨
In a rare break from games posts, (although those in my games network you too can be change makers. If you employ apprentices, or would like to understand more about apprenticeships, utilising the levy and in particular, want to #BackTheFuture pop me a message and I can share more.) I'll be diving into case studies, sharing reports and more about why this campaign matters.
There's no entry requirements, just a commitment to give this pledge focus, drive and support, now and in the future.
So it might not impact you directly, maybe one day it will but together we can create a better world for others... so will you be next to join the pledge?
Robert Green thanks for letting me be involved, I can't wait to see more people Back the Future.

Are you an employer that hosts apprenticeship programs for your company?
❔Did you know...
The minimum wage for apprentices can have a direct impact on the social welfare that apprentices can access.
If the minimum wage is set too low, it may mean that more apprentices need to rely on government benefits to make ends meet, such as Universal Credit.
This can have negative consequences for both the individual apprentice and the wider social welfare system.
💁🏽 How can you help?
By joining the Apprentice Decent Wage (ADW) Pledge Employers are invited to sign up to say that they #BackTheFuture by signing the Apprentice Decent Wage Pledge to enable better social mobility and fair wages for all
As we move into the final days of #NAW2024 there's never been a better time to sign-up, to make a change for your current and future apprentices, but also be a leader in the charge to remove barriers to entry for those from low socio-economic backgrounds ensuring more apprentice candidates with increased completion rates for all sectors.
Together, let's Back the Future ✨

As part of the #EveryonesEnvironment programme, NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) has been discussing with young people, ethnic minority communities, Disabled people, and older people from across the UK, their views on the impacts of the climate and nature crises on their lives, and on how they would like to see charities and policymakers respond.
At a series of free webinars in September, NPC will share these urgent calls to action, and continue a sector-wide conversation about how social charities can better support those likely to be the most affected by our changing environment and related policy.
