Last month, #DTSC’s Enforcement Division issued a $30,000 penalty to a #HouseholdHazardousWaste & universal waste collection facility in an environmentally disadvantaged community in #TulareCounty. Our Enforcement and Emergency Response Division (EERD) protects public health & the environment from #toxic harm through consistent & timely investigations, enforcement & emergency response. EERD routinely inspects facilities subject to the Hazardous Waste Control Law (i.e. Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs), Universal Waste Collection Facilities, etc.) to ensure they adhere to #California laws & regulations put in place to protect our people & communities. Upon investigation of this specific facility, EERD cited the following violations: 🚩 Failure to properly label and contain universal wastes, 🚩Failure to properly train employees handling & managing universal wastes, 🚩Failure to minimize the possibility of a release of hazardous waste to the environment.
