Safety in Snow ❄️ As seen by the recent weather conditions walkways are becoming wet and slippery and ice and snow accumulates, increasing slip and trip hazards. However, you can reduce the risk of slipping and falling by taking effective action. During this winter weather, consider the following issues: 🔦 Lighting - Make sure your workplace is adequately lit so you and your workers can see hazards on the ground and avoid them. As the effect of light changes throughout the day, it is important to do this inside and outside of the workplace. ❄️ Ice, frost and snow - Maintain a procedure for preventing ice, frost, and snow from forming and/or keeping pedestrians off slippery surfaces. • During frosty, icy conditions, use grit • Consider covering walkways • Barrier off existing walkways and divert pedestrians to less slippery ones. 🧂Gritting - A gritting system should be used if frost, ice, or snow is forecast or if walkways are likely to be damp or wet and the floor temperature is below freezing.
